Hill ruck on standard route. Ran into a burly black bear on the hike, which was surprising to both of us.

El gain 705’
DISTANCE 2.6 miles
Weight 45 lbs

Also went paddle boarding for 1.5 hours. First time out the year, rock solid on the balance. Nice day!

Gravel ride, in hot & humid conditions. Hit the wall of bonk due to the heat on the last big climb. Sweated off 7 lbs, even with a hydration pack.

Quick ruck up the local ski slope before rain came in. Only logged the uphill portion, which was the steepest slope there. downhill was a longer and slower.

Total sweatfest as it is seriously hot and humid out. Still a little tweaked from the bonk yesterday, plus beer at the 4th celebration last night.

Rode the same route as two workouts ago. Started out feeling some leftover tiredness from the last ride, which was at my limit for heat.

Felt better today, slightly cooler out and I hydrated better. Saw a couple of other gravel riders out. Got passed by some guy and his wife out mtbiking, while clawing my way up a steep gravel stretch. That was a positive ego boost. Not!

Paved and gravel loop, 26 miles and 2600’ of elevation gain. About 2.5 hours. My Garmin ran out of juice mid-ride, so no digital record unfortunately.

Last night, walk to park, then 10 x hill sprints/10 push-ups. Walk back. Maybe 1.5 mile walk.

Rucked down to the park, then 10 laps up and down the hill with 10 push-ups per lap. Push-ups on a bit of a slope to keep the backpack from flopping over my head. 2 miles there and back.

Dropped below 220 post-workout, which was mostly due to sweat, but who cares. I was 235 3 months ago. Woot!

Yesterday, gravel ride. Part of it was really MTBike territory, so a little awkward on the gravel bike. Serious sweatfest, high temps and humidity.

DISTANCE 11.63mi
EL GAIN 950’
DURATION 1:25:38
AVG SPEED 8.1 mph
KCAL 894

218 post ride.

Day before, did quick hill lap of 5 miles in 25:30, which was a good time.

Today, road bike ride, about 15 miles, under a heat warning to boot. Sweatfest again. Bottom bracket has annoying tick in it, swung by LBS to let them take a quick look. Will have to bring it back.

15 miles, 1100’ of climbing in 150’ chunks or so.

Rucked down to the park, then 10 hill laps with 10 push-ups each with the backpack on, then ruck back. Two miles there and back. A good go-to workout.

First MTBike ride in a while. Up to the ridge and back down with a group of friends. Man, what an improvement in fitness from all of the gravel riding! Crushed all of the ride with ease. Cool!

Yesterday, 10 mile ride, maybe 400’ el gain?

Today, 21 mile rail trail ride out and back, 1000’ el gain over the ride. Downhill all the way out, uphill back. 2 hours, including a stop for a soda at the halfway point. 1100 calories.

Gravel bike ride, after getting the ticking sound fixed. It was an underlubed crank that they replaced.

2400’ of elevation gain, 1600’ of it in one big chunk. Temps were 70s, but humidity was literally 100%, with the tops of the mountains touching the low clouds. I sweated a lot and was on the edge of bonking on the big climb. Super long downhill back to the car.

A week and then some of long bike rides on MY NEW BIKE (thanks Mickey) and also long paddles on the paddle board in the ocean, a little surfing (but mostly shore break...bleh) and tons of time in the water. Nice!

Left off a few light workouts and bike rides here and there. Today, a gravel ride on a loop that really tests me. Non-stopped the long, steep hill. Small victory!

The funny thing is, my Garmin stops recording the ride if it detects you are not moving. At one point, at the steepest most brutal part, it stopped recording while I was in the bottom gear and just staying upright. I'll probably hop off and speed hike that section next time, as it will be faster and give my bike muscles a short break.

Standard mountain ruck, 3.5 miles, about 700’ vertical, 1100 kcal. Temps 70s but very humid, so a sweatfest.
