Hurricane Prep.
Hurricane Prep.
Downsides of Matthew.
1. Big Ass. 500 miles wide.
2. It's a variable track.. with some Western movement.. closer to the coast.
3. It's WET vs dry like Andrew.
Upsides
1. It will pass and things will be back to normal.
2. It's not hitting Miami, therefore no migration of their culture to Fort Lauderdale.
3. All my female acquaintances are texting and asking me if I need a place to stay. LOL.
Everyone was nice at the stores this morning. Gasoline a bit crowded but OK.
Life is like normal before the shit hits.
Shutters will be up. I'm in a cement building.
I'm assisting some old people and text/hand holding some ladies. So all is good.

My brother and niece are south of Daytona, where the core of that storm is supposed to hit Friday around noon. They've never been in a hurricane but expect to evacuate the barrier island where they live. He's booked a hotel about 20 miles inland.

Can we change this to the Bruce Lee Narcissism Forum? Training Forum seems misleading.

A cubic yard of water weighs just north of 1700 lbs. Add even a little bit of force to that and think of the exposed area of your body, car, or house that's trying to resist it and it's pretty clear that water finds a way to win sooner or later.syaigh wrote:People always underestimate the force of water.

Or, if you use the Metric System - like the rest of the progressive world - one cubic meter of water weight one ton.DrDonkeyLove wrote: A cubic yard of water weighs just north of 1700 lbs.

Family in South and North Florida safe, friends in the Carolinas safe, power still out in parts of North Florida and up east Coast. Looks like a death toll of about 15.
A big delta between the sky is falling yelping and the models predicted tracks and reality. The predicted computer modeled storm track suddenly moving eastward A LOT as it approached the US, and THE TSUNAMI IS COMING appeals imho are incredibly bad since next time folks will be that less likely to evacuate. The storm stayed 35-45 miles off shore the whole time. Coastal flooding was ugly but easily survivable. Ponte Vedra will rebuild. The Players Championship will return gloriously next year. Somehow they will get Florida-LSU in.
Not a great moment for the weather modeling yahoos. But awesome advertising for the LL Bean Weather Channel Raingear.
