Book: Quartered Safe Out Here by George MacDonald Fraser

Post by bennyonesix »

Author wrote the Flashman series which are great. This is about his Burma tour during WWII fighting crazed Japs. If you like war and WWII you will like this. I give it 5 out of 5 sweaty miserable Limey bastards.

Great book, eye-opening & very readable.
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

No, but I'd consider it after reading QSOH. Impressive so far.

It is a humorous fiction series. A poor English Aristocrat with zero honor and conscience enters the army after getting booted from school and becomes a hero despite his avowed cowardice. His willingness to lie and sacrifice his fellows is his secret. Also sexes many women.

I remember bits of Flashman in the Playboy mags of the '70's. But I was more interested in the interviews.

+1 on pretty much anything by Fraser.
