One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

I watched a small piece of the hearing when I got home after work and then the recap...I realize being a member of the Supremes is the pinnacle of lawyerly achievement but fuck me I would want no part of that. But on reflection, what choice did he have? If he withdrew when the accusation(s) was made it would have almost by default made it true. Christ these pretzels are making me thirsty!!! I say it's close but no cigar for Mr. K.

Fair enough, I’m surprised they gave him such a strong endorsement initially.

My guess is that he gets confirmed, with Pence as the tiebreaker. Of coarse, I thought Trump would never win the Republican nomination or the general election so what do I know.

I know what you're all thinking...what is the malevolent force that always orchestrates these types of vile proceedings that tear away at the very fabric of our nation...yes...you're right...Coca-Cola.

OK, so who has done the Devil's Triangle? With at least one woman? Did you look the other guy in the eye? That'd be weird.

I played a lot of drinking games at the time, and Devil's Triangle was not one of them. But I didn't attend Swamp Prep High School

They vote on the side of the religious right and the deregulators (when it doesn't interfere with the evangelical vote or the needs of corporations). Its sad and very depressing.

Everyone in that Senate chamber is a goddamned liar.

Is democracy as we thought it should be at an end?

My very good friend who is an ornery old man trump supporter keeps telling me "democracy doesn't work". Maybe he's right.

I'm sad.

As soon as one of them moves, it gives the others cover and breaks the dam. Ultimately 3 or 4 or 5 defect, and Beer Keganaugh loses the vote.

My wife forwarded me a hilarious pic of him testifying. The chicks faces behind him are not good for the repubs.

It's not in the first 10 amendments, it's in the 13th.

I thought murdering children was a universal taboo, and not some quaint edict of one's particular brand of Middle Eastern desert prophecy.

For the fact is, at Yale, and I can speak to no other times, Brett was a frequent drinker, and a heavy drinker. I know, because, especially in our first two years of college, I often drank with him. On many occasions I heard Brett slur his words and saw him staggering from alcohol consumption, not all of which was beer.

Not over until it is over but pivot from sexual assault to he lied about college drinking tactics is telling.

It's not the lying, it's the perjury. A self-inflicted wound, due to him lying while under oath. Dumb own-goal.

I think he'll get confirmed, but the investigations won't stop, they'll just move to the media. He will be the gift that keeps giving to the Dems, as former drinking buddies and party-harders get outed and stories told.

I think he was a wild-man high school and college student who left a trail that will be dredged up, ala Roy "heading to the mall" Moore. It's unfortunate, and I feel for his family in particular.

A good friend of mine from college days, where we lived non-future SCOTUS lives (but no raping action) became a born again Christian and is in fact now a sitting supreme court justice for a state. I've thought about him a lot these last few weeks.
