Legs yesterday, running 3 miles this morning, throwing with my daughter this evening. Holy shit, I've been sore since Friday.

Ran three miles on Wednesday, spent all day yesterday running errands. Going to try and combine two workouts this afternoon and then throw with my daughter again tonight. Weight is all over the place, need to cut the booze and get back on my food plan. Too much fat, not enough vegetables.

Last throwing practice before comp on Saturday. Looking relatively good. Hitting over 55 on lwfd consistently, stones are hit or miss, hwfd sometimes good, if I remember speed I can get over 60 on hammer which clearly needs work.

Competed on Saturday. Generally a good day although sheaf was sub-par again, only got 18 feet, and hammer was just stupidly bad, 57 feet. I'm apparently moving in slow motion. But, competition prs on weights for distance, 40'2" on heavy weight (21 lbs) and 55'7" on light weight (14 lbs). I won weight over bar with 16 feet and turned the caber twice. Stone was okay, but lost my glide altogether. Threw 27'5" with a standing throw. Going to start working with my coach again to fix hammer and stone.

Okay. Two weeks since my comp and I'm getting back to a regular lifting and cardio schedule.

This week:
Monday: 3 mile run
Tuesday: Leg extensions, hamstring curls, back squats, Lat pull-downs, two other things I can't remember.
Wednesday: Bench, rows, face pulls, lat pressdowns, curl and press, triceps kick back, 30 minutes elliptical
Thursday: 30 minutes incline treadmill walk
Friday: shoulder complex, leg extensions, hamstring curls, upright rows, bicycle crunches

Okay, so this past week, got one workout in and then spent three days at a camp retreat for middle schoolers. Have spent all weekend recouping. It was actually kind of awesome living the outdoor active clean living (although eating crap) life for a few days. Gotta figure out how to make that a more normal thing in my every day life. Will probably have to wait until after cross country season when I actually have some time to myself. As if that actually ever happens . . .

Okay, so my prep for worlds has not been as I envisioned it. Coaching cross country is very draining and is hard on my schedule. I have five lbs to cut to make weight by November 1st, but I think that will be fine. But, really need to dial things a bit. I've been just doing bodybuilding joint maintenance stuff twice a week, a lot more cardio, and trying to throw semi-regularly. My throws are actually pretty good, just need to avoid getting elbow tendonitis which has been flaring up a bit.

My weight has been very steady at 158-160 for the past several weeks. After worlds, I think I'm going to just do some bb joint maintenance 2-3 times a week and just work on increasing my endurance and athleticism (ie, just move better, lighter).

Threw stones and sheaf today. Weird, no matter what, my braemar landed in the exact same spot every time at 25 feet despite adjusting all the things. But open was a bit further. Just need to condition. Sheaf was hitting the bar at 22 feet. Need to sort out my throw to include a little more lateral movement, its far too vertical. And then incline treadmill walking for 30 minutes.

Threw on Saturday and about killed my right elbow. brachialis spasm, but cleared up overnight. Did stones, wfd, and wob today. Doing all right. Really need to work on driving off my fee as much as possible. Decided to not worry about making weight for worlds. I originally wanted to compete against my age group, but got put in the lightweight division. I'm just not there and it would take a Herculean effort to lose 6 lbs in 2 weeks without a massive water cut and a lot more cardio. Thyroid meds are being adjusted and it will just take time.

So world's was fine. Only got down to 158 so competed in the open division and came in fourth, which is actually pretty good.

Just got invited to compete in a national lightweight event in February. I have about 15 lbs to lose which will be tough, but my coach thinks its reasonable. Just need to get my head in the game. This might be really dumb, but I've been ranked high as a masters and a lightweight for a while and this is my first big invite and I really want to do it. So, I'm going to. Just need to empty my cup and do what I'm told.

Four days in and down 3 lbs. Hoping to shed another 4 or by by next week. This is just the initial big drop from increasing water intake and protein. After that it will slow down a bit so need a big jump start. Throws seem to still be there. Taking it slow and steady with 30 minutes of cardio daily.

Weight was back up a lb today, grrrr. But I didn't get all my water in, didn't do any cardio yesterday, and my guts were acting up this morning so hopefully thats a fluke. Ran 30 minutes this morning and then cleans, push press, bench, and rows at the gym.

Weight back down a lb today. Walked the crazy dog this morning for an hour. Going to lift and do some more cardio this afternoon. Diet is very tightly dialed in now. Hoping to get under 160 by Friday.

Hiked over the weekend with cardio and weight still went up. Cut more carbs today. Rowed, threw, squatted and now its time to rest.

I think I've had the flu. I was vaccinated, but whatever this was, kicked my ass pretty good. Glad I got the vaccine, can't imagine how bad it might have been. Anyway, weight is finally under 160. Going to keep carbs low until my activity level gets back up to normal.

Sent my hammer videos to a friend who coaches a lot of throwers and I think we've figured out part of the problem which is simply that the low point of the ellipse has been drifting too far to my left. Going to work on that and see if it works.

Going to walk the dog today and work on some light throws. Really need to be throwing every other day, but I overdid it Sunday helping my son with a school project and ended up in bed all day yesterday so really need to be careful going forward. Getting old sucks.

Yesterday. I walked for an hour, threw for an hour, rowed for 40 minutes, and did 45 minutes of weights. Got back up to 105 carbs, 145 protein, 37 fat. No weight change this morning. So cutting carbs back to 75 til Monday. Going to gauge general fatigue and weight loss. Need to be at 156/157 by Monday if i am going to make weight and perform well in 2.5 weeks. Thats 3 lbs in four days. Shit needs to get real.

This morning, lights snatches, a bodyweight circuit, and then 40 minutes of rowing. Will walk for an hour this afternoon/evening.

Btw, started taking rhodiola twice a day. It is a kick ass appetite supressant. Im not hungry at all and still have energy.

Did some hammer, sheaf, and wob. Everything is looking good.

Going to do 45 minutes on the treadmill.

Make sure the weightloss is fat (and water), not muskles.

Holding at 157. Throws yesterday were pretty awesome. Hitting 29 feet on stone which is better than I did all last year. Height events were consistently good, I think the snatches are helping. Hammer is still a shit-show, but a slightly less awful shit-show. Weights are great.

Doing some knee and shoulder rehab at the gym today. 40 minutes of SS on the treadmill, will do some nice and easy on the elliptical later.

Down to 60 grams of carbs now. Tired, but not lacking in strength yet. Just ate 12 oz of raw tuna for lunch. It was delicious.
