Thanks for the feedback.
I have a relatively minor tear of the labrum in my left hip. Outcomes aren’t all that great for the procedure my surgeon wanted to do.
Careful strengthening, soft tissue work and strengthening has kept me intact, but I know I’ll end up in real pain, and maybe needing a hip replacement, if I don’t get some sort of intervention going.
I have a consult with a surgeon who does PRP, intraosseous, hyaluranic acid, and stem cell injections. Hopefully he’ll think I’m a good candidate.
Although it won’t heal your labrum, I found that doing abduction and adduction isolation exercises with leg day helped with hip pain.
I do this on either side of my leg, without any hip compensation (either side-to-side or in rotation), or rotating the foot away from neutral, for 2-4 sets a leg after finishing my compound quad exercises (squats and lunges):
Edit: well, I embedded it, and it shows up in my preview post, but it disappears when I publish it. I really wish someone would make a “How to use this site” guide. I guess google “band hip abduction” and look at the second image, but use better form.
I follow the FAI Fix programming from Upright Health, and I have a hip band or whatever from Mark Bell.
That and careful deadlifts and mostly single leg squatting variations have kept things in check, but with how much moving around I’m doing, I’ve noticed a little more soreness lately.
I don’t have anything relevant to add but I am curious…I assume you already know the cost? Insurance won’t help correct? From what I’ve seen, it is quite expensive. Whichever way you go, best of luck. I read just a month or so ago in the paper that the procedure is still not approved by the FDA.

Yeah, if I did the whole series of injections (PRP, stem, intraosseous, hyaluranic acid) it’s like $5k. Pretty steep to not know if it’ll work for sure, but surgery is like a year total to recover and outcomes are pretty varied, too.
I guess I’ll have a better idea once I actually talk to the doctor.
