So, this was made popular by our own Dan John. The first time I remember him talking about it had to have been like 2002-2004 era.
Never done it. The logistics of front squatting a reasonably heavy weight at the track just never interested me.
However, I did do “Shaf-inov”
This was a combination of
Double front squat with two 32 kgs. 10 reps
Sprint up a 50-60 yard hill.
Repeat 5x
I did not like this enough to do it again. In fact, after 3 rounds I wanted to quit, and I only finished out 5 rounds because the guy I was with was willing to go on, and I didn’t want to look like a candyass. He puked after round 5. I didn’t. Small win, as this effort fucked me up for 3-4 days.

It reminds me of a Power & Bulk type challenge from the old days. Who can drink a bottle of vodka, eat three boxes of Peeps, and do 100 squats with their bodyweight in barbells in 30 minutes?

Reading Never Let Go recently and saw it in there, or maybe his website? Either way, looked gnarly. I was thinking about trying it but you put an astroturf runway for prowler or sled at a commercial gym and it turns into everyone’s mobility area.
I used to belong to Alphalete gym. It was full of people taking videos of themselves. I was doing sled work on the turf strip and some dude sets up his camera right in my path. I move it. Keep pulling the sled. The dude comes in right behind me and puts his camera back. I tell him he needs to move it and he ignores me so I knock it over with the sled.
He got pissy and I told him to fuck off.
This also illustrates the difference between gyms inhabited by millennials and younger generations and those more old school gyms with older lifters in them. The younger generations seem to think they don’t need to work to get along in the gym and have little idea about gym etiquette.

Home gymer’s really are the master race. I would become unglued if someone did that. I thought you trained at Metroflex tho?

It really does remind me of toddlers who really don’t know how to play together, they just kind of co-play – they’re using the same space, but don’t know how to actually share the space.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sent young people scurrying away by asking “Mind if I work in?”. Either that, or they get pissed off.

The idea of this made me throw up in my mouth a little.
I’m more of a high intensity guy, training to failure, doing DC training, myoreps etc, but I just can’t get up to do this kind of workout anymore.
I’m legitimately confused by people in their late 30s, like me, who continue to grind metcons at CF gyms 3-5 days per week.
