    • Question for the nIGXer braintrust: are Monkey Feet an adequate way to address leg extension and flexion when you don’t have a leg curl or extension machines at home?  Or is it just some bullshit?  Here is the product in question:

      MonkeyFeet

Also, feel free to hate on the exercises themselves.  Are they useful?  Are the dangerous?  You tell me!

Knees over toes guy likes them a lot and I think he’s legit, so… I guess these are cool.

I think they’re a game-changer. Syaigh agreed on the old forum. It’s inspired me to look at making some leg/body apparatus myself.

Unfathomably they don’t ship internationally, so I’ve jury rigged a version using a mini band using this as a reference: https://youtu.be/-oK8M2Ghpco

One thing to note, the band method has a bit of give in it I’ve found, but nothing too distracting. I’ve used normal strap webbing and there’s less bobbing up and down of the dumbbell. The exercises I do at the moment mostly mimic the stand-up globo gym hip machines. Hip and groin feel so much better after doing these.

I still want the real deal and would love to support them, but they’ve made it so hard and expensive to ship them here.

The problem I have with the monkey feet is that for 75 dollars you only get a monkey foot.

I feel that there are more cost effective and probably effective ways to address leg extensions and leg curls without a machine.  Namely bands.  Banded leg curls are fairly easy to set up.  Banded leg extensions take a bit more creativity, but it can be done.

Both leg extensions and leg curls are great exercises to include.   A bit of isolation/bodybuilding work does the body good.

I hear you about the price, I was a little disgusted when I realized that $75 only gets you one.  That said, I really only buy limousine quality gym shit now, because it usually pays in the long run.  So I’m less concerned about the cost and more focused on the value they can provide in terms of useful leg exercises.  Right now, leg curl/extension and pulley systems are the two things I’m lacking on the path to swoleism.

Agreed the price sucks and bands can do it too.

Autism measurement factor is a high pro for me. I can see what the dumbbells weigh, with bands I’m never sure and I have to train in parks so my set up is usually never the same.

LOL you’re just like me.  Unrelated but are you posting a lot today because you are locked up at home?

I’m honestly surprised you don’t have a pair of vintage iron boots, fc.

Oh believe me, I’ve thought about it.  They just always seemed very clunky and hard to use.

Hahah a bit of that yeah. Mostly just needed a break from work. My IGx interaction usually spikes when I’m training so that also explains it.

I just jam my feet under the couch, toss a coffee table on top so it doesn’t flip over, and do glute-ham raises (instead of hamstring curls).  Undecided on the value of leg extensions.  Currently not training them and feels fine.

I bought one and like it. Haven’t tried leg extensions with it. I’ve only been using it for standing leg curls and knee lifts.

Alternative to monkeyfeet: gravity boot from Kneesovertoes

^ Thought it could be of interest. My band solution is getting a bit tedious.

After a long time, mine arrived.

It’s everything I’d hoped it would be. A) I wish this was around years ago and B) I wish I would have known the importance of it years ago.

Also valuable because of how occupied gym leg machines get.
