I'm getting my first dose next Wednesday. So 3 weeks later is second dose, then a few weeks to build immunity. I know it's not a Golden Ticket, but I'll still feel a fair bit safer.

The key to the pandemic being kicked in the nuts is the 2nd and 3rd world. As long as you have SE Asian and South American countries blowing up and breeding new variants this thing will linger. Brazil in particular is a big worry.

My daughter, 22, got the shot in a neighboring rural (red Trump voting) county because they were apportioned shots based on population, but can't convince the people to get it. How many places have you signed up at?

Here in PA, you sign up at lots of different places. My daughter had an appointment for a place 50 miles away at first, then got one closer.

Look out into rural counties, the Trumpier the better. They tend to have lower demand.

I don't know if your experience will be similar, but my industry happened to get put in 1B, so I called the county vaccine hotline when I was slumming it in group 2, and immediately was given an appointment for the next day. I didn't realize 20,000 local doses had become available 5 minutes earlier. I got my wife, a friend's wife, and a coworker registered, and the person on hold at the same time was told all were booked. Half these folks were waiting on a call.

My impression is the outreach is simply overwhelmed by the in-reach. I've helped others get signed up since, all with inbound reaching out or seeking out cancelled appointments at centers with potentially expiring doses.

I have also heard tell of the advice, "Call the Walgreens in the most-Republican leaning zipcode near you," and seen unconfirmed reports of success on that front.

Edit: one more. My coworker who has been helping folks get signed up literally timed the "Press 1 for English" at exactly opening time and was able to get through on multiple days and schedule appointments. Dialing at the exact time was not successful.

First dose of Pfizer COVID repellent yesterday. Just a sore shoulder and that's fading fast.
