And here's the Steve McQueen Bullit chase. I lived in San Francisco at the time and we sorta laughed at this because they turned a corner and were 20 miles away. But, hell, 70s muscle cars. A Charger and Mustang: can't ask for better actors.

It was a Challenger, not a Charger?
God almighty, those were great cars.

Mustang wins.
I had one. A pal got out of the Navy and bought a new one, 289, faster than snot. But it got stolen and beat up a little and when the cops got it back, he couldn't deal with it. So I got it for a song. Hell, you can't hardly buy a car nowadays that you can smoke the tires without even thinking about it.

And just a note on Mad Max and Road Warrior...
I interviewed Mel Gibson back in the day when I did that kind of thing. He said that the day he interviewed and did the screen test for Mad Max he'd been in a bar fight the night before. So he had a black eye and a split lip. He said, I guess they liked the look.
Frankly, I liked Mel. Maybe the story shows he liked to drink a little too much.
I didn't see it coming to what it did.

did not know that. mind blown.DARTH wrote:Take away the various debates on the effects of a nuclear war and Mad Max and Road Warrior had realistic action, you could buy into the story because you could see shit going like that. Max was no Spec Ops Rambo Commando, he got hurt left and right, Max's real strength was his heart.
This shit looks WAY over the top in the action and effects and the violence looks Matrix/cartoonish.
And as per Thunderdome, that movie got better the older I got, especially when I realised that Blaster was the Retard from the farm in Mad Max.

Yeah, when I was 17 I looked at one, but wasn't able to swing the 12K price that it was at the time.
I wish.

The Bullitt chase scene is as overrated at the Boss Mustang.

My kids laughed at it. They use this one scene in the movie, where the car comes down hill and turns hard, about 10 different times from ten different angles. Kids picked up on it immediately. I can't watch it now.Blaidd Drwg wrote:The Bullitt chase scene is as overrated at the Boss Mustang.

New wave feminists are a bigger threat to society than ISIS... And certainly more insidious.
