He was a good writer, and presents a far more complex picture than I've usually read from the region. Unlike many 'journalists,' he seems to have had the balls to go and get stories-- unlike those who do their 'reporting' exclusively from Baghdad hotels or from Hamas approved dispatches. Too bad that kind of reporting is going out of style. RIP.

I was curious about the "why" of sawing off heads with steak knives by Islamo fanatics today. Seems to be a two step process:
