so dmw,
I assume you won't be supporting Obama this next election, since he has hired more Wall St people to his cabinet than any president, has taken more campaign money from Wall St than any president ever, has hired a Wall St clown to run his next campaign, given Wall St trilions in TARP money, and has continued the policy of giving Wall St slaps on the wrist for their infractions and fraud cases. correct?

Shit's bout to get real at UC Berkeley.

http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/politics/133570008.html

Cops and students currently in what seems to be a pretty tense standoff.

Couple students got flex cuffed after getting clocked by a few popo earlier.

Second raid at Frank Ogawa Plaza in Oakland is getting ready to happen.

I've got a college friend who was deployed to Iraq for the last year and is a Contra Costa County Sheriff's Deputy. He's coming back from one shithole to another shithole. http://www.sfexaminer.com/local/bay-are ... py-oakland

They're also at least temporarily opening an account at Wells Fargo. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/1 ... wells.html

Interesting post by Carnalkid
What's hilarious to me, is I actually perceive more greed among the "99%", than the 1%.

The occupiers are covetous twits who feel they should reap the same benefits as an extremely capable man, despite having none of his talent, ambition or ability.

The reason they're so angry isn't "corporate greed" or corruption. It's that they're fucking jealous and (as I mentioned) covet what others have. They don't want justice, they want a nice car and a large house, just like the people they hate.

Only they're less able, less ruthless and all around less useful than the people they're pointing the finger at.

Also, how are these wealthy people robbing me? I'll be completely frank here and admit that my income is well below the poverty line. The most I've ever made in any given year was shy of 16k. And ya know what? That was enough for me to pay my bills, stay fed, and still have money left to have fun with.

When my girlfriend (who made more than me) lived with me, the situation was even better.

And thinking about the above shit, when my grandma and grandpa lived through the Great Depression, they tightened their belts, and their friends, family, and neighbors helped each other get through that fucked up period.

They didn't wander around with a sense of entitlement.

They saved their money, they did things thriftily, they were industrious in their poverty and need, and when things came back around, they took advantage of their work ethic and prospered.

LOL. What do you base your knowledge of the thoughts and deeds of thousands of people scattered across the USA? And further, how do you know that these people, who are clearly working hard at their protest, lack a work ethic? You guys seem to live in your imaginations.

Who really gives a fuck? For every legit protester, you've got 9 hanger ons, being douchbags, stealing and breaking shit, getting drunk and high.

It's more a fashion statement, IMO.

a few points from the Connected World Technology Report by Cisco were still surprising. Foremost, of the 2,800 college students and recent grads surveyed, one in three prioritize access to social media over salary. That means that for young people, freedom to Tweet has a value on par with the type of freedom money can buy, like the freedom to eat out or get a pedicure. And secondly, “over half of college students globally (56%) said that if they were offered a job at a company that banned access to social media, they would either turn it down, or ignore it.”

Other conclusions reached by the study:

-More than two of five would accept a lower-paying job that had more flexibility with regard to device. choice, social media access, and mobility than a higher-paying job with less flexibility.
-At least one in four said the absence of remote access would influence their job decisions, such as leaving companies sooner rather than later, slacking off, or declining job offers outright.
-Three out of 10 feel that once they begin working, it will be their right—more than a privilege—to be able to work remotely with a flexible schedule.

I'd say it's more like 1 protester who really thinks he is doing something important to 25 douchebags. I did not see anymore value in the Tea Party protests, but you didn't see any of the douchebag behaviors you describe, nor were their reports of donations fraud in the Tea Party protests. A lot of hippies, once they clean-up and begin to contribute to the greater good by being responsible for themselves, will look back on this with shame....NFW is history going to judge this 'movement' kindly.

And Occupy Oakland finally gets its first shooting. Local news showing the story. They were going to celebrate their one month "birthday" of Occupy Oakland.

Best celebration they could think up was to shoot someone I guess. Speculation it may be a news photographer, but it sounds like that isn't the case. There does seem to be some indications that a news photographer got beaten earlier.

I'm pretty happy I didn't get any pictures last weekend at Oakland.

update:
Guy passed away.

The stories are conflicting. The word from Occupy was that the shooter and victim had nothing to do with the encampment, but other witnesses on the scene are saying that Occupiers formed a shield of sorts, preventing first responders from getting in.

Tough to tell where around Frank Ogawa Plaza the shooting happened.

update #2:
Channel 7 (KGO-TV out here, local ABC affiliate) crew member may have gotten a concussion of some sort according to tweets running along the Occupy Oakland website.

News on the scene had said it had been pretty uncomfortable with cameras down in Oakland before.

When i walked through over the weekend there wasn't anything too uncomfortable about it, but I didn't take any pics.

Word has it Occupiers think this may be the end of the camp. Quan's got whatever she needs to raid the camp and keep it from coming back if she wants.

Shit's about to get realer in Oakland (again).

Because the Far Left loves to shit on GIs and Vets untill they find the one or 2 that agree with them.
Most combat arms are Conservative to Conservative leaning and Lefties love to act like they know more than people who actually fight in the wars the left protest (Untill B. Hussein Obama get's in) but the left will act like the handfull of GIs that are on their side are the ones who have a right to an oppinion and we (non GIs and non Vets who are not Peice Nick Commie's) need to STFU.

They cheer when San Fran would not let the Marines even film a commercial there or love the idea of throwing Recruiters off of Campus, yeah they support the Troops.

But if a former Marine takes a Bean Bag round to the head, now he's an American Hero (and he might be that) or if one dies at OWS or goes on Cspan with Noam Chomsky.

Now the first two, we dont know anything about there service records and they might have doen their duty and beyond. But I'd like to know how many of these Heroes were actually shitbirds in the service. Heard alot of GIs and Vets bitch about Shitbirds, Junkies and outright cowards they have had to put up with.

Of all the Vietnam vets I grew up around I have heard a good number say they thought the war was fucked for various reason's (allthough not being aloud to fight it all in and NHB was the largest complaint by far) but I have never heard any of them say anything good (and alot to the contrary) about Vietnam Veteren's against the War.

Somehow I just cant see Warriors bitching for entitlements.

My Kid's want free College? They will either earn a scholarship, get a loan and know they will pay it or they can Be All They Can Be, Aim High, Accelerate their Life or be of the Few, the Proud, the Marines.

Keep stealing from each other.
Keep bitching that your entitled to more than freedom. (Your not and no one is as far as from the goverment is concerned. Birthrights come from your Father's not the State.)
Keep shitting on the sidewalk.
Keep up the Maoist and Marxist signs.
Keep standing and running your mouths.
Keep bitching about those who hold the Gold.

Because it worked so well for your fucking shitbird heroes and dried up Hippie professors.
You know what they accomplished back then?
THEY HELPED GET NIXON ELECTED! Because most Americans are not down with acting like a spoiled shit gone Lord of the Flies.
Just skip this and go on to the Disco and Coke phases.

Come on. It's a death from a gunshot at a protest. It's going to get reported.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

She has shown flashes of having some stones, only to overshadow herself as a complete, bumbling idiot.

Any of you self-identified right-wingers here who like to complain about Big Gubment have as much to be upset about as the OWS crowd, and for many of the same reasons. Dressing it up with a flimsy pretense of party politics or fashionable libertarianism or whatever else doesn't change the fact that everyone gets shit on by a vast minority of wealthy power elites.

Seems kinda shitty to pick on one group over relatively minor ideological differences, when the frothing about gubment spending and overzealous lawmaking has the exact same set of causes.
