Re: Right now I'm reading
I'm reading the third Monster Hunter International book. Nice cheesy action books.

For fun: The Polaris Protocol by Brad Taylor, ex-Delta officer.
For Deep Thinks: Antifragile by Nassim Taleb, author of Black Swan. IMO, Antifragile is better.

If you're interested in longbows, I strongly recommend "Agincourt" by Bernard Cornwell. It's historical fiction, and there's some fluff, but the descriptions of the longbow and how devastating they were is great reading. Bernard Cornwell in general is great for historical fiction.Bobby wrote:I am reading this.My father has always wanted to build a real longbow ( I have to),so we are going to do so in the spring.

Awesome fucking book. It's going to be a film, done by the guy who does Vikings, but with big budget.lasalle wrote:If you're interested in longbows, I strongly recommend "Agincourt" by Bernard Cornwell. While I will wipe my ass hole after a muddy shit with Iggulden's Caesar books, the Genghis shit is such a good read and he actually bothered to learn about the people this time.Wild Bill wrote:

Re: Right now I'm reading
Guilty pleasure: I'm reading all the John Sanford "Prey" novels along with the Virgil Flowers books. Right now I'm reading Silent Prey.
And, because I'm working on some stories that include this subject (and because I find this stuff fascinating) I'm reading Last Ape Standing by Chip Walter:
A description of the book:
Over the past 150 years scientists have discovered evidence that at least twenty-seven species of humans evolved on planet Earth. These weren't simply variations on apes, but upright-walking humans who lived side by side, competing, cooperating, sometimes even mating with our direct ancestors. Why did the line of ancient humans who eventually evolved into us survive when the others were shown the evolutionary door?

They feeling necessary to describe their sexual fantasies. It is little disturbing to read for me. Our literature more puritanic :))
For example passage from "Skystone"
I stopped reading after that :))After one such lovely interruption, she sank down on me completely, bringing her knees up beneath her shoulders so that she squatted above me, her buttocks pressing into my groin. I was so deeply lodged in her that I could feel the end of my phallus jammed against the deepest recess of her living flesh, and then she began to rotate herself so that I moved around her like a stirring stick, churning the softness and the heated depths of her so thoroughly that I was afraid I must be hurting her.

Also another great one if you are interested in longbow work is Hunting the Hard Way.

Currently reading A Giacometti Portrait by James Lord.
Not bad so far. An interesting look into the workings of an interesting artist.

Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series for fun.
Random code books for work, plus some math stuff to brush up for the side gig. Kind of embarrassing how poorly I retained my already mediocre math skills.

I think I have 4 more of the Rapp books to read. I'm reading them in chronological order, per Vince Flynn's (PBUH) website.
Daniel Silva does fun spy thriller/assassin stuff, too.
