Muscle weakness 2 weeks out
After being on and off (mostly off) of crossfit due to sickness and life, I did the Halloween workout 2 sundays ago (November 1st)
25 Squats
25 Push-ups
25 Pull-ups
25 Sit-ups
50 Squats
50 Push-ups
50 Pull-ups
50 Sit-ups
75 Squats
75 Push-ups
75 Pull-ups
75 Sit-ups
I quit on the pullups on about 30 reps into the 75 due to hands tearing, bit finished the rest of the workout. I was obviously tired, but nothing felt too abnormal at the time. The next morning I woke up, my arms and back were super stiff and very sore. I was unable to fully straighten my arms due to stiffness for a solid 3-4 days after. At first I was concerned that it might be rhabdo, but the pain wasn't really that bad and my urine was normal so I figured it must just be a really bad case of DOMS. My arms and back were stiff for a solid 7-9 days, so I have refrained from doing pull ups for the last 2 weeks to give everything a chance to rest.
I did the filthy 50 tonight, and my pullups were incredibly weak still. It feels very much like my arms and back are still fatigued, so I'm getting a little concerned that it has been almost two full weeks now and I'm not even close to back to full strength. For comparison, I can do 12-15 dead-hang chest-to-bar pullups normally, but I was struggling to even do 2 or 3 tonight, and even jumping pullups were challenging.
Has anyone had any soreness/weakness last this long? I'm starting to get a little concerned that my strength has not returned yet.

The brilliance here is astounding. I need to immediately go replace my PVC agility hurdles with fricking METAL PIPE!!! ](http://www.irongarmx.net/phpBB2/images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif)

Threads uncovered, wide wooden bases that don't tip over when yet another @Fer can't clear their 300th "jump"...yet again, why will standard insurance not cover these people?

couch = FAIL. Yet again, @F picks something to "measure" that can't really be compared to others in any meaningful way.Crossfit is still young enough that you can watch it evolving. Coach Glassman just added a new axis / metric to the Crossfit definition of health. A year ago, Crossfit defined health/fitness as “increased work capacity over broad time and modal domains.” Now one of the officially defined metrics for measuring health is longevity.
The goal isn’t longevity.
The goal isn’t multitude of durations of effort.
And it’s really not power output.
It’s about all of this.
I want to be powerful across broad time and modal domains for as long as I possibly can.

To be fair (yeah I know this isn't the place for it) those aren't hurdles, but are rails for practicing precision jumps. Note the girl is perched on top of one about to jump to another. That's why they have wide bases- so they WON'T tip over.Resident Quack wrote:The brilliance here is astounding. I need to immediately go replace my PVC agility hurdles with fricking METAL PIPE!!! ]

Robb Wolf is the guy I picked up "Longevity" from about ten years ago. He was in contact with Art DeVany and then went to work with Cordain and he explained the "Health," "Fitness," and "Longevity" thing to me probably in 2002 or so. Robb always reminded me to look at a diet or exercise decision with Longevity as part of the package. I hope Robb at least gets a footnote on the new definition.

Not a chance...Robb might have introduced YOU to the concept in '02, but Couch was tinkering with the idea when he was still a world class gymNAST and inventing the hierarchy of functional movements.Danny John wrote:Robb Wolf is the guy I picked up "Longevity" from about ten years ago. That being said, Parkour is completely the anti-@F. Moving as efficiently and smoothly as possible (ie. as *little* power output as necessary) from one point to another does not coincide with @F "slop".
It's hilarious how affiliates are branching out into other modalities. Nearly everyone finally looks behind the Wizard's curtain and/or gets sick of the limitations imposed by the @F mentality/approach, then they leave or do something else.
@F Parkour cert!!!

You can't keep rolling in the dough if you hurt your clients faster than you can get new zombies through the door. And I'm sure some of the stipulations with the new RRG have some Cultfit trainers a bit nervous as to whether or not they'll be the first tossed out on their head for negligence.

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.
