CrossFit Women Are Bitches
Some time ago I came across a website called Heartless Bitches International, and was unable to resist browsing through it a little. What I found was fantastic, and I quickly came to the conclusion that the name of the website, while most likely offensive to several people, is nothing more than their (probably accurate) description of how society views women who have strength, confidence, independence and intelligence, and the resolve to be openly proud of that fact.
Having been a CrossFitter for the past couple of years I’ve found that the women I’ve met who embrace CrossFit as a lifestyle embody all of those wonderful traits and outshine the hoi polloi to an astronomical degree. I want to get to know them and to meet more of them. They don’t lie down and accept defeat, nor do they allow fashion magazines or television shows to mandate who they should be and how they should act. I believe this is a good thing, and I hope that it continues to spread like wildfire. CrossFit women are amazing, incredible human beings, and I feel that the “stop whining and get over yourself” attitude of that website is representative of what CrossFit women possess naturally.
The word “bitch” is very volatile – to some it’s the deepest, harshest name anyone could call a woman, and to others it’s completely benign. If, however, a woman who has strength, confidence, independence and intelligence falls under the general category of “bitch” (when used as a description of her character) simply because she has those traits, then I will do anything and everything in my power to help my 8-year old daughter become one. I can’t think of a greater gift I could ever possibly give her.
I’m just sayin’…
Might want to gift her with some winnie, a lower back tatoo, video camera (to record all her WOD's!!!1111!!!1!) and a lifetime supply of penicillin. Fake tits optional but highly encouraged.
dakat wrote:If "bitch" is synonymous with "narcissitic whore", then I guess the shoe fits for an @fit hoe. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily, especially for our purposes, but to suggest that they're a bunch of intelligent free-thinkers who've broken the chains of society's expectations of females is pretty funny.

Posts: 111 With all due respect to the achievements and brilliance of both Mark and Robb, I think they misrepresent Coach's main point. Coach's comments came in response to the criticism of CrossFit on the powerdevelopmentinc.com site. On what was that criticism based? It was based on theoretical postulation only. Coach returned the discussion to performance, inviting any powerdevelopmentinc.com athletes to demonstrate their fitness and abilities. The fitness and abilities of CrossFitters are openly displayed, daily. Until we see that powerdevelopmentinc is able to produce results that exceed or even approximate those of CrossFit, I doubt the relevance and validity of their criticisms.
Coach also said that CF uses science to DISCUSS the performance results achieved by the workouts, not CREATE them. Robb and Mark, we all benefit from the intellectual and methodical experimentations you do with diets and workouts. Whether or not this is SCIENCE is less important than whether or not your diets and workouts provide better performance. If they do, others will try them, not because of the science but because of the increased performance.
Coach is in fact a scientist because he does methodical tests of workouts, evaluates the results, and designs new workouts based on those results. But I think it's important to keep the horse in front of the cart. All of these workouts must be evaluated in terms of their ability to achieve their goal. What is the goal of CF? Improved fitness (and a better overall life). Any criticism of CF must therefore include one of two things: evidence that CF doesn't improve fitness or evidence that another program improves fitness better than CF. Anything else is intellectual speculation with minimal relevance to CF.
Mark Twight is not one of those Arnold Fitness Expo guys who shirks the rings. He dives in, experiments, and speculates about the causes of his results. I am fascinated by his results and ideas, and honored that he is part of our world.
On the other hand, until we see athletes from other programs regularly blowing the doors off people like Josh Everett, Greg Amundson, and Matt Gagliardi in tests of GPP, I'm less impressed by their theories. Who is impressed by Dennis Erickson's theoretical objections to the Patriot's defense?
http://www.limbicnutrition.com/blog/res ... iscussion/The Burden of Proof Principle
The burden of proof for any position usually rests on the participant who sets forth the position. If and when an opponent asks, the proponent should provide an argument for that position.
The Principle of Charity
If a participant’s argument is reformulated by an opponent, it should be expressed in the strongest possible version that is consistent with the original intention of the arguer. If there is any question about that intention or about implicit parts of the argument, the arguer should be given the benefit of any doubt in the reformulation.
The Relevance Principle
One who presents an argument for or against a position should attempt to set forth only reasons that are directly related to the merit of the position at issue.
The Acceptability Principle
One who presents an argument for or against a position should attempt to use reasons that are mutually acceptable to the participants and that meet standard criteria of acceptability.
The Sufficiency Principle
One who presents an argument for or against a position should attempt to provide reasons that are sufficient in number, kind, and weight to support the acceptance of the conclusion
Josh Hillis,
You are making everything worse. Much worse.
“CrossFit was being slammed because you are known for attacking people personally when they disagree with you”
This is pure bull-shit. I attack the character of people for being unethical shitbags. It’s now your turn. I attacked one of your KB friends/elites for his racist comments and abuse of a young Pararescue trainee all for being black and wearing a CrossFit T-shirt at Pararescue jump-school where he is the bus driver. I attacked another guy’s character for taking a thread on CrossFit private sending G-Mac an email claiming to have secret knowledge of a gaggle of CrossFit-injured NSW personnel. G-Mac and the Doc’s at NSW know it’s a lie. The guy didn’t know of our work or contacts at NSW. He was suggesting, hell stating, that the NSW personnel considering CrossFit ought to come train with him and stay away from dangerous CrossFit. If ANYONE knows of an entire group hurt CrossFitting and can only talk about it privately they are being unethical. We all have an obligation to share first with the purveyor and then with the public any injuries endemic to any regimen. I couldn’t share all the details because G-Mac asked me not to let the dude know that he’d sent me the email. Shortly thereafter G-Mac released me from my promise. I challenged the guy to publicly deny my accusations of his unethical behavior. He never did.
You can't come up with an example of me attacking someones character for disagreeing with me. I can’t even imagine doing that. Most people disagree with me on most things and I don’t spend very much time attacking anyone. You are an asshole for saying so. Let’s be perfectly clear – I AM ATTACKING YOUR CHARACTER.
“The Dragon Door crew was hammering that you weren’t a good Coach because you don’t work out.”
Where did my not working out come from? It came from the NYT. Cooperman asked if I did the WOD every day. I said, “no, I’m usually experimenting on myself and others with protocols that will quickly be abandoned and it would be unethical to spread them to the community at large adding that most of what we monkey with will never make it to wider audience.” I also let her know that locally we only rarely do the WOD because I have better options, trainers, and equipment than does the cyber community of CrossFit. I also told her I had a penchant for bicycles that kept me from being as fit as I might. I was the original CrossFitter and I can, at 49, still outperform more CrossFitters than not.
And now I’m attacking your character for repeating the absurd charge. Note: not for you disagreeing with me but for your total lack of character in repeating that baseless NYT nonsense at DD and here. That it is coming from such incredibly weak performers as Jack (super-obese), you (9:40 70 lb, Fran), Stephen (26 minute Fran), and the rest of the best of the DD crew who perform at less than half the output of CrossFit women while also claiming CrossFit to be of limited efficacy (Here you’re innocent) makes me nauseous. Nearly all of the DD elite have either come to CrossFit and folded (very publicly collapsed and given up, come in last of 60+, been crushed by our women, rhabdoed) or hide behind nonsenical theoretical objections (e.g., adaptations are cyclic, not linear, therefor CF sucks, I'd like to see these CFers in 50 years, etc) and I have protected the reputations of all those who folded by never mentioning their limited fitness.
Poke fun of my limp as a friend – we’re cool. I’ve thicker skin than you’ll ever be able to understand. But when it comes from someone who falsely accuses me of routine character assassinations and stupidity, and sees fit to repeat NYT charges as fact, it becomes making fun of disability.
We have a therapy for injuries here at CrossFit called STFU. It’s your turn to take some. One more peep from you, Josh, and I'm going to ask and then follow Lynne Pitts recommendation on dealing with you. I'd take the STFU.

Lance Armstrong has a penchent for bicycles, as does Lance Armstrong and Normon Stadler. I tried to find a picture of couch riding the custom made bikes that the community raised money for, they were filed with his gymNast photos!also told her I had a penchant

http://board.crossfit.com/showthread.ph ... 163&page=3Back to “Smitty” as he likes to be called. “Could it be”, I asked myself, "that Smitty doesn’t know how to lift overhead?” Why not? Most trainers do not. I’d have asked Smitty directly but he may not know, and I’ve reasons (I’ve promised silence, but I will get released from it if Smitty wants to rock’n’roll) to doubt his integrity and honesty to begin with. So…I went to his website to see if I could find a clue, and here is what I found http://www.powerdevelopmentinc.com/phot ... lds%20perf orming%20Military%20Press.JPG
Since Smitty doesn’t use, like, or teach overhead lifts I don’t know if the young man in the picture is lifting the way Smitty would teach if Smitty did teach the overhead lifts or not. But the picture is contrary to what I teach and I have a lot of problems with the young man's posture. He not only has a nearly inactive shoulder, he also has flexibility and control issues with the lift. He is not overhead.

Personally, I'd like to know what Shaf put up specifically to make the Couch notice.Oh, and one more thing: Ron, you thought Shaf made some good points about CrossFit? I was amazed at how little he’d come away with having posted as much as he has here. His four points about CrossFit, for instance, are each either deadwrong or nonsense. I also see where he too is bothered by my assertion, and I’ve been making it publicly for more than a decade unanswered, that exercise science has done nothing to impact the way any successful coach or athlete trains for their sport, yet, like Siff, Shaf offers not one single example. He just doesn’t like it. Well, I don’t either.
