CrossFit Women Are Bitches
Some time ago I came across a website called Heartless Bitches International, and was unable to resist browsing through it a little. What I found was fantastic, and I quickly came to the conclusion that the name of the website, while most likely offensive to several people, is nothing more than their (probably accurate) description of how society views women who have strength, confidence, independence and intelligence, and the resolve to be openly proud of that fact.
Having been a CrossFitter for the past couple of years I’ve found that the women I’ve met who embrace CrossFit as a lifestyle embody all of those wonderful traits and outshine the hoi polloi to an astronomical degree. I want to get to know them and to meet more of them. They don’t lie down and accept defeat, nor do they allow fashion magazines or television shows to mandate who they should be and how they should act. I believe this is a good thing, and I hope that it continues to spread like wildfire. CrossFit women are amazing, incredible human beings, and I feel that the “stop whining and get over yourself” attitude of that website is representative of what CrossFit women possess naturally.
The word “bitch” is very volatile – to some it’s the deepest, harshest name anyone could call a woman, and to others it’s completely benign. If, however, a woman who has strength, confidence, independence and intelligence falls under the general category of “bitch” (when used as a description of her character) simply because she has those traits, then I will do anything and everything in my power to help my 8-year old daughter become one. I can’t think of a greater gift I could ever possibly give her.
I’m just sayin’…
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Yeah, that's what Glassman's famous for - his insightful explanations of the precise science underpinning @F. If only he'd step in and tell us one way or the other if Louie knows what the fuck he's talking about. Please couch, save us!I don't like how he says "its math". When Coach says something he gets it up on a board and explains the "math" or science behind it. But this just came across as the big guy at the gym saying his way is the way, but can't explain it.. and when you put him on the spotlight he just says "it's math" but never gives you the science proving the math.
Not hating.. just would like Coach Glassmen or someone to give us the truth to this.. rather than taking him at face value cause he has a powerlifting gym.
Just LOL at that.Yes, agree. "What, specifically, is the 'math'" ?
Does he finish sentences?
I don't doubt that he gets results, but compared to Crossfit, this is opaque.
Only thing couch is letting sink in is that final quart of gin. I mean seriously, is this his idea of a great delivery?: http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/Cros ... es_Pre.wmv[...] and let's face it, unbiased, Glassman has a better lecturing style. Slow, methodical, he lets things sink in.

There's a fucking priceless bit in there. He's using a 500lb squatter as his example for calculating loading, and at one point he says something like "you people are different, normally I wouldn't talk about anything less than an 800lb squatter" - so he's obviously scaled his examples down to what he thinks the @F'ers will be able to handle. I nearly pissed myself at the thought of an @F'er squatting 500 - only @F guys I can think of who've ever gone over 500 were doing it waaaaaaay before they ever heard of @F...

Westside's influence on @fit is spreading. Look at this sumo deadlift, executed with flawless virtuosity, definetely <19% slop.

Dude. In this video louie is discussing a three week pendulum wave. Who's gonna program the mainpage accordingly? jesus.
WSBB is about as far removed from assfit as I can imagine. If these people want to lift weights, I dare say pendulum wave loading isn't worth their time. Just pick up a barbell that weighs over 90lbs. Maybe a 5x5 in a few months.

Lincoln, So your opinion is that you and a bunch of genius friends know more than CFHQ about how to teach the olympic lifts, and you post that on an article that is attempting to address the basic issue of how we know what we know? (or perhaps, how to think about and use opinion versus the scientific method in trying to identify superior training methods)
I don't think you have any idea what the topic of the article is, and have not demonstrated that you have the intelligence to understand how important that topic is.
As for your opinions about the quality of the cert training, I'd like to point out that before CF, no one was teaching these movements to any large numbers of people. How good does a thing have to be to be better than nothing? If you have the perfect method for teaching oly lifts to groups, and sit in your garage typing emails about it but do nothing else, what good are you? Get out there and sell the world on your technique, get it on film, and document and display the results. The world needs your help so we can learn a better way than the "crappy CFHQ" technique which is so lacking in input from the SMEs you hold in such high esteem.
If by chance the point of your seemingly pointless post was to say "CFHQ should never stop trying to evaluate and improve the quality of their training", that's a great point, one they have long been on to. Perhaps they'll discover how brilliant you are and come to get your help.
I've trained at Lincoln's place and he is not one to be fucked wit, seriously strong dude. I'd like to see this pussy run his math fact-to-face. The part about no one training olympic lifts prior to @fit cracks me up. USAW did a few certs I think. The fact is that MORE people are doing olympic lifts, but there are weak and ugly and fucking useless in their application. Dudes that are producing top level athletes are not wasting time having a lineman work on pvc snatches. Pudding is such a cunt I can't comment on his posts, but fucking Bingo kills me.
Seriously..these are the guys that a better explanation on power than what Louie Simmons has to offer? They want couch to explain it to them?

I think we all agree here...Mainsite WODs are not CF, they are Coach's programming to crush elite athletes over time, a beginner should be wary. A beginner can scale the mainsite WODs, but if you click on the Start Here link you get a better idea of how to begin with CF. Furthermore there was a beginner program that was detailed in the CFJ quite a few years ago (2003?) consisting solely of sprinting, DL, BS and SP if I'm not mistaken...

Holy CRAP the comments are head-explodingly awesome! Here's a great idea, throw a bunch of "elite" GPP practitioners into the powerlifting world. Powerlifting (ESPECIALLY THE MULTIPLY POWERLIFTING PRACTICED AT WESTSIDE) is pretty much COMPLETELY at odds with all of Crossfit's philosophies and practices. How are these nitwits supposed to sleep at night when one minute Ripp is telling them THOU SHALT SQUAT BELOW PARALLEL and the next minute, Louie Simmons is telling 300 lb squatters how to squat to SPF depth and bench to their bellies? Not to mention that Louie built his system off of all that useless 'exercise science' crap that Couch said nobody has successfully used, ever. And not to mention that Louie trains with wave loading, periodization, specificity, etc. You know, all that stuff that Cultfit doesn't. No wonder the comments are filled with people scratching their heads over "wave loading." In Cultfit land, every day is Max Effort day!BTU wrote:The Journal comments have had some lulz lately.
