Thanks Shaf. Those were really funny. Now I know where that "weak performer" originates. Cool.

Only on the inernet and in our feminized society can a fat little gimp like cooch dress down a guy like Josh (that paid him 1K for a certification) with out fear of a physical beat down.Shaf wrote:Poor Josh just cut and ran.
What I find screamingly hilarious is all the business that the US OL organization is getting with all these new OL coaches, who've never, every been in a competition, nor have they every really done any kind of even moderately heavy OLs in training.

Oy vey...the OL fetish is the gayest thing I've ever seen. You'd think they invented that shit except for the fact that they honor "form" over "poundage". If the Olympics ever institute a broomstick division the X-fit crowd will sweep all medals.Shaf wrote:Poor Josh just cut and ran.

Well, I didn't wanna go there for fear of trying to sound too butch, but since you opened the door...DAMN RIGHT! I think in Brazil that kind of verbal/written attack would be grounds for physical assault. I guess it's best we live in a country where you can run your mouth without fear of getting that ass beat, but at a minimum Glassman would have gotten a "you better shut your goddamned cocksucking mouth" call from me.Batboy2/75 wrote:Only on the inernet and in our feminized society can a fat little gimp like cooch dress down a guy like Josh (that paid him 1K for a certification) with out fear of a physical beat down.Shaf wrote:Poor Josh just cut and ran.

Did everyone know that Crossfit is a HIIT program in disguise?

Or that Caoch doesn't seem to respect disabled athletes?Welcome Lee,
Many don't realize it but we are a fairly advanced HIIT program built around mixed modal highly functional movements rather than traditional bike, run, swim workouts.
The resultant adaptation appears by all participating to substantially exceed traditional "cardio"(I hate that word)workouts in terms of breadth and depth of adaptation and application.

And that Crossfit is all stolen from others? Hard to believe when Caoch is so concerned about people stealing his "intellectual property"As an example I was recently sent a landmark study which dramatically demonstrated that increased hip extension power improved sprinting. You could not successfully coach even Special Olympics without knowing this.
http://www.crossfit.com/discus/messages/21/428.html
We are perfect in but one respect, our committement to the athelte. Most if not all of what we do was stolen from people smarter than ourselves. It is only through open mindeness (stealing and amalgamating), persistence, and subjugating our colective egos to the needs of the community that we've won the successes and respect with which we've been blessed.
Thank you, all.

This is where there Pavel got caught with his pants down.Fat Cat wrote:I agree. I think that study has been totally misrepresented and have said so for a long time. This is complete hog wash. If this was the case why does Pavel recomend grease the groove push up and pull up programs to improve a persons pullup and push up numbers? Wy not just say KB snatches and C&Js? The answer is, if you want to get better at something you have to specialize.

at RKC weekend. Shit, you must give Pavel one hell of a blow job to get your RKC title.
That's very good question.Batboy2/75 wrote:If your a general fitness guy or gal that doesn't compete in sports, crossfit is fine. 1. The need to belong. Working out with a group of like minded folks is fun and a lot easier than facing 495 for triples with just a power rack betwen you and the floor, a 5 mountain mountain trail, or a big ocean all by your lonesome.Sounds like the dojo.2. The need to have somebody tell you what to do. Most folks have no idea what they are doing in everything from exercise to theology. So just letting somebody else do the thinking is the eays way out.Xfit is all about measuring your efforts. Numbers don't lie. You improved or not. The fact that it doesn't directly map to some niche sport like powerlifting or GS doesn't change the fact that to hit your potential requires just as much hard work as any other workout, but without the ego stroking of standing on a podium surrounded by your peers.3. Very few want to be a winner. While many dream of hitting the winning homerun, scoring the winning touchdown, or raising their fist in the octagon, etc., most folks have experienced failure and didn't like the taste of it, so they aren't going to risk the pain anymore to achieve victory.
Pukie: The number of people who blow chunks are a miniscule percent of those that work out. But a core of xfit is circuits and high intensity intervals, and to make gains requires at least occasional max efforts that push you to your AT for extended periods. It appears that people here have a real problem with interval training, or feel they should always be done at less than max effort.
However, those that belong to the cooch cult have a very bad habit of looking down their noses at Power lifters, GS, Olympic lifters, or anyone else that doesn't subscribe their program and or specialises in a sport. On two occations they have been very disrepectfull toward two men that have competed at the national or international levels in their sports; Steve Cotter and Dan John. 99.9% of @fiters could even come close to competing with these two men in their respective endevors.
Another irritating habit is how ( like DD and others) they have latched onto the military angle, in this case the Combat arms Spec ops angle. The problem is that ground pounders engage in a job that has little or no place in their main PT program for @fit. The job requires way to many specific tasks to follow a generalist program like @fit. This doesn't mean @fit or any other program could be used every now and then to add a little spice make things interesting.
As a Ranger I had 5 specific physical test that I had to pass on a quarterly basis and before I attended any schools. APFT, pull up test, 5 mile run test, Road march test, swim test. Add on top of this the physical demands of my job, there was no way I could use @fit as my main PT.
Just to show you I'm not biased, Pavel and DD like to referance some russian study where one group that did nothing but KBs did better on a PT test than those that specialized in the events of the test. This is complete hog wash. If this was the case why does Pavel recomend grease the groove push up and pull up programs to improve a persons pullup and push up numbers? Wy not just say KB snatches and C&Js? The answer is, if you want to get better at something you have to specialize. I don't care how many kip pull ups yopu can do, it won't prepare you for passing a pull up test where the standard is straight up and down with out "body english".

Couch has now called the Rippetoe idea of getting shoulders forward of bar in the DL proprietary for @fit users only.
LOL!
The good thing is unless you are DLing in the broomstick to 135 range, this is Oly influenced drivel that nobody uses.
Tate or Rippetoe?
