I guess these are the kinds of delusions one gets when they go to an @F cert:
http://journal.crossfit.com/2010/02/sle ... l#comments
It's amazing how in-line Louie's philosophy to power lifting is to CrossFit's philosophy to training.
It's such a serendipitous coincidence that the conjugate system happens to implement a variance very similar to CF.
Louie i like your quote about the law of accomadation it fits the crossfit model well.
@Fers understand so little about programming that they don't realize that @F and Westside are polar opposites.

Fun Fact for the day

It needed an edit though:
It is estimated that at any one time, 0.7% of the world's population are drunk. It is estimated that at any one time, 100% of the Couch Glassman's of the world's population are drunk.

I think you are confused about the definition of functional. "Functional" is not so much "how often do we do this exact movement or in the real world" as "how well does this translate to useable strength/power/speed/mobility" in the real world. If we were solely obsessed with training the exact movements we use in the real world, WODs would include typing tests, running in a suit with a briefcase (I remember there was a thread where some idiot suggested this), walking in the snow in heels, holding pens, carrying boxes, children, and 2x4s . . . The list goes on and on, the point is that there are billions of different tiny movements and actions we make in our lives and we cannot possible recreate them all exactly in our workouts. Better we pick exercises that translate the best across a wide variety of them.

For a repetitive, triple-extension cardio movement rowing involves a fuller range of motion and provides an easier and more natural platform for drilling the ankles-knees-hips progression into untrained bodies with the added benefit of it being less likely for the exerciser to pull with their arms too early. The SDHP is as Lincoln said: far enough from the clean to make it ineffective for working up to the movement and close enough to **** it up.

In that like--where rowing is a similar movement that's easier to learn, more useful, and won't **** up your clean--one wonders why you use the SDHP at all except to have something that involves a barbell and allows you to flail around wildly so you feel tired in the end and come away thinking you just had a good workout.

Because we don't focus solely on lifting and our women aren't pumping steroids, squats aren't going to make our women get big and bulky. The squat will, however, make our women have stronger legs, healthier knees, and a tighter backside!

Oh man. Check out this nigger...
injured back

Well just when I started to feel good in my 4th week of CF i made a very stupid mistake. I was doing Linda (which is my mothers name, go figure lol)
and I thought I was going to be a tough guy. I had 185 on the DL and felt it was too heavy right away but decided to push myself. I also was really going to go all out since my times have been bad and I wanted to improve. Well my 3rd rep into DL instead of getting my butt low to the ground i kept it high and used my back to get the weight up. well that was all she wrote. I couldnt even finish the first round. I stopped right away and figured id ice it and have at the next WOD tomorrow. not even an hour later I was having back spasms and i couldnt even breath. thank god I work at a hospital and I was at work so I went to the ER and got taken care of. The x-rays were negative but im out for at least a week maybe more. So just a reminder to everyone out there FORM is everything. dont forget that.
Being a tough guy with that 185 weight selection will get you every fucking time.

There is no single sport or activity that trains for perfect fitness. True fitness requires a compromise in adaptation broader than the demands of most every sport
I no longer have a reason to think or speak as Couch has said everything that needed to be said. They should make a couch doll with one of those pull cords. You can apply his bullshit to anything.
