Does HQ have video of the top girls heat of the last WOD on Sunday? A few were watching VERY closely and it just seems impossible a few girls pulled ahead. We are worried a few judges only counted 4 rounds on the farmers walk/push press by accident. It would be definitely be worth looking into. Still great effort by all and a fantastic event.

Derek, you're right. That's what happened. Not much anyone can do now. Crossfit is supposed to prepare you for life and life is unfair. S*it happens and you just have to roll with it and move on. Better luck next year.
34. Laura wrote...
Derek~ You weren't the only one that noticed that! There was definitely at least one girl that did not do the full 5 rounds. I know it was a long day for the judges and human error is going to always be a factor, but this is very unfortunate for those girls who did 5 rounds and would have beat her time! We will see how things go at Regionals.

I'm not even going to bother to try and change the minds of those of you who are whinging and whining, but I felt that I should get some positives in and say well done to the organisers who must have stressed their heads off to set up a competition which at this level (Sectionals) was a first time event. If you're going to bitch, save it and instead volunteer at the next one - and I don't just mean rock up on the day and expect to be told exactly what to do - it's easy to show up at the 11th hour and hook in, most of the work has already been done. Actually get in there earlier than that. Maybe then you'll have an inkling of the million and one things that needed to be done.

stosh wrote:Dug this quote from Gym Jones last week:
in a circuit or IWT, a full Clean or Snatch is about the silliest movement one could use. For fitness (as opposed to O-lifting competition) it is the pull from the floor to full hip/knee/ankle extension that produces the gains. Catching the bar is mostly irrelevant. Fun. Cool. And, in this context, useless.
This seems unintuitive to me. How is timing the catch and doing a front or overhead squat irrelevant to fitness?

Having said that, I have no problem saving that discussion for another thread or with GJ talking shit about teh couch.

I love how the sheeple vigorously defend the unprofessional shitshow that personifies every special event @fit puts on.

It reminds me of what Hermann Goering said in the film Nuremburg: "I would rather DIE than admit that we were wrong!"

Especially if "life" includes getting drunk, bilking retards out of a grand a pop, and getting misguided chicks to slob your knob as you tour the country talking about god knows what.

The participants and their minions paid cash to either compete or spectate and the so-called volunters fucked things up and that's okay.

Couch has been so good to us all, they should just be thankful they had the opportunity to pay $50 to watch.

Nothing wrong with a life that includes any of those things IMO.

Freebasing injury, IMO
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

"Affiliate Scenario: It's Friday and one of your members shows up smelling like beer at your 5pm class. He doesn't seem that drunk and he's a really good athlete -- not the kind that you worry about during a WOD -- but the rest of the class is already making jokes about Twelve-Beer Billy. What do you do? Let Billy join class? Give him a warning or some kind of sobriety test? Or tell Billy to sit this one out?"

I think CF does both [build a strength and an aerobic base] at the same time. I also do not think periodization is needed. Since with CF you train all out, even on rest days...
