It's been a while since the last blowup with a SME (Robb Wolf). I've been wondering, has anyone heard anything lately about:

1) Real info on what happened with Sears.

2) Welbourne in addition to CF Football is doing Paleo Brands with Robb Wolf, and semi recently rebranded his gym with Max Mormont to Socal S&C away from CrossFit, not that long after Wolf's wife recommended it (to distance yourself from HQ in case of stupid shit and to allow offering broader products, not just CF shit). Can't believe Couch isn't upset about this, I thought CF Football was a huge money maker. Football certs are on mainpage.

Newb question: for longer high rep WODs like this is it better to take as much rest as needed to finish the 50 reps?? or should I have a max rest time and if I can't do another rep move on to the next exercise?? been CF'ing for a month or so now and havin lots of fun with it...thanks in advance

#17 Jason asked:

Well, the intent for the WOD is: Start the clock. Do all 500 reps in order, resting only as necessary. Stop the clock. Record your time. Try to beat it next time.

But regarding taking breaks, I think many of the hackers here, like me for instance, have to take breaks on several of the exercises. Take the KTE's - because of a combo of stomach muscles and grip strength, I can't come close to 50 straight. I do 20, rest 5-8 seconds, do 8, rest agin fer a couple, then 7, rest, 6, rest, 5, rest, then the last 4. Also have to take breaks for wall ball and burpees. Just try and remember that the clock is ticking, so just rest long enough to bang another couple of reps out.

If you are just getting going, you might try scaling it to 40 reps of each for a total of 400, see how it goes, and then modify next time the WOD comes up. For instance, my wife did 30 of each the first time she tried it.

HTH, Dave T.

Does anyone else have standard overtraining symptoms that they get? I should probably say overreaching, as it goes away in 3-5 days. If I do too much over a few days and can't find the right sleep and glutamine to counter I usually wake up with a nasty sore throat and stuffed ears/nose. It feels like strep or a sinus infection but no fever and the doc never finds anything. The problem is that I can never really spot any warning signs. It just seems to crash in, usually after a rough rugby weekend, but in this case it was just after being active and outside for too many days in a row I guess.

This is the 3rd time in the last 6 months and each one I can attribute to overindulgence in athletic endeavors.

Does anyone have similar overreaching or overtraining issues? If so, have you found any foods or habits that helped prevent them? Other than the obvious "just take a day off when you feel it coming" which would work if I could "feel" it coming. It's usually a wake up sick thing. Obviously I'm gonna miss some sleep here and there, but I find it hard to believe that that alone could set me off.

Ever since I started CrossFit, muscular girls like in today's pic are getting more and more attractive to me. That girl's got a hot bod!!

#13 JLG - As hard as it is for us fitness freaks not to train, try taking a full week off, do nothing at all. Eat a bag of potato chips, watch TV, and drink a ton of beer. You'll be amazed at how motivating feeling fat and out of shape will be for you!!

But if you can't stomach that idea, then try something different for exercise other than CrossFit. Try playing pickup basketball at the park, swimming, yoga, or good ol' Globo Gym 3 sets of 10 on the incline peck deck machine, haha. That might be refreshing enough to miss CrossFit and get your mind back on track. Hope that helps!

THE SAME THING THAT I PUT BACK IN 08 NOV 09,

The Famous Filthy Fifty! Nice! one of my favorite workouts since i started crossfit! sweet!

I am confident that i will beat my PR, the more I do this WODs the better I get overall phisically, this one will be the perfect example along with all the Girls Benchmark WODs,

Any TIPS on how to get a faster time?

I am pacing my self and if i rest it will be less than a 5 second rest and attacking the WOD again till i finish.

BRING IT COACH. 3,2,1. GO!

Had to make some subs...

DB for kettlebell
Good mornings with 45lbs for back extensions
Thrusters with 45 lbs for Wall Ball shots
Knees to Chest jumps for DU'

47:43. This workout was a beast, I don't see how people can do all of this in sub 20 minutes....

Comment #48 - Posted by: emiller at April 14, 2010 12:00 AM
Chris, #39 at 9:19 pm,
not overtraining, what you're experiencing is from your immune system being crushed by the workout. The solution is simple: immediate (within 10-15 minutes of finishing) post-workout nutrition, consisting of whey protein, maltodextrin (fastest acting sugar, serves to stimulate insulin response, restore glycogen stores, and acts to facilitate use of BCAA from protein, and...) L-glutamine, which supports your immune system.

I had the same problem for a long time. Post-workout shakes fixed it.

They also make a noticeable difference in your next workout performance.

I do the "filthy" once a week even when it's not prescribed, it's my favorite. Starting last week I changed the 50 to 60, increased the weight to 65# on the push press and added an 11th exercise at the end, 95# overhead squats. I did this one yesterday (time 68 mins.) so I'll do something else today.

Myself and another physician have noticed LDL and total cholesterol numbers skyrocket (as in, LDLs over 200) in several WaDDing and Zoning @Fers of "normal" BW.

My best guess is that both could be due to decreased testosterone as a secondary effect of overtraining, but as with anything, there are likely tons of factors. HDL has been shown to positively correlate with endogenous testosterone levels. As far as the LDL, I do know it corrected in one patient when they went from @F/Zone to a Paleo/strength/cals program.

Building on this brilliant logic, perhaps one should wreck EVERY TIME they drive? Imagine how fast you'd drive then!

Just a 20% wreck, like a fender bender, and you'd be AWESOME at driving. You'd dominate NASCAR events and you wouldn't have to debate anyone about it.

Is it possible for you homos to show some self control and have an andro free Friday tommorow? The elders have indicated how lame it is. Tommorow = No andro chicks. How about hot chick Friday? Why are you homos so obsessed with chicks that look like dudes? Oh wait...don't answer that. :ANAL:

Post 'em if you got 'em. Maybe instead of criticizing you could contribute something useful.

I do more in a day for this site than you have done in your whole career.

So does this mean that you won't be posting he/she pics tommorow? Can you attempt to conceal your fetish for trannies at least one day?

Hate transfusion courtesy of SICFIT.

To whet the appetite:

Some hooker talks about how her inconsiderate brother's wedding almost got in the way of her precious Gaymes.

http://sicfit.com/blog/post/show/id/105 ... -Regionals
After days of digesting that my twenty-one year old brother was getting married, I realized what had actually happened during that phone conversation. I had put my passion of fitness and CrossFit before family.
I will be at my brother’s wedding. My suitcase will be packed with paleo friendly snacks, Lulu gear, and my Trigger Point kit. I will find a way to balance my passion for CrossFit and devoting time to family
To really crank up the hate...

If brand-whores don't piss you off, stop reading. But if you hate them as much as I do (If it wasn't stamped on a ball, glove, shoe, or jersey, I had no idea what brand I was using), enjoy the article.

http://sicfit.com/blog/post/show/id/106 ... ca-Coexist
Have you seen their website lately? Or recent videos of Georges St. Pierre training like he would under a Zach Even-Esh mentorship? Just recently, an Under Armour representative showed up at CrossFit Central for a meeting.

Gosh, GSP would be much better if he did @F.
One thing that apparel and lifestyle companies have learned in recent years is that CrossFit athletes have become that new (in-)crowd...CrossFit athletes have become useful in communicating messages to the masses and starting trends. When you watch the sport, you see living, breathing, walking, talking, supremely fit billboards that represent the brand like no paid model, athlete, or actor could.
But like a SICFIT reader mentioned in a message sent to the site, yesterday, "We will not be influenced by brands that don't let us influence them.
he searched every sectional picture on Picasa in attempt to find a pair of unbranded athletic shorts. He couldn't.

I fuckin hate @fit! Before it was, meh. Those misguided koolaid swilling fuckheads need to get a grip. Family or @fit? Sure some people hate thier family, but fuck me running. That dumb bitch has fucked up priorities. I don't give fuck how passionate you are about it. It is fucking @fit! If she had a damn pea brain in that skull of hers she would welcome the break to get ready for the Gayms. Her boyfriend must be one of those boardshort chain wallet clowns or else her shit would be on the street. Or she might suck a dick like champ and then I would keep her around for that atleast.

If that is her in the picture she hasn't lifted heavy yet. Fuckin assholes!

Here's the Facebook page of the chick who posted the above blog about wanting to skip her brother's wedding.

http://www.facebook.com/search/?src=os& ... lla?ref=ts

So, who wants to friend her, find her brother on her friends list, then send him a link to that blog post?
