begging to be mocked!
I see some good shit on the horizon with the new written L1 test
Lisbeth...
1. Really? An Affiliate owner asks you questions and you blast back in such a manner. I asked for direction from you, nothing personal. Whatever you read into my post was clearly read through an emotion that was not intended
Anyhow, CrossFit is adding requirements. This is one. Everyone who wants to attain or maintain affiliation will have to meet it. As for future requirements and higher levels of testing, we're looking at things all the time, as any forward-minded company would. You are always free to submit your ideas and thoughts to
[email protected] and we'll pass them onto the right folks.
Thanks for your support of CrossFit, Eric!

This is fantastic, from a litigation standpoint! First, it shows that (a) Crossfit does indeed have control over the affiliates (doing something
after the fact shows they could have done it
before the fact...this is known legally as "control"), and (b) it is a tacit admission that trainers "certified" by Crossfit
prior to the test were not thoroughly qualified, hence the need for a qualifying test.
From the taxation/franchise standpoint, which I still think will be a large part in bringing down the Empire, it looks like Cultfit HQ is about to take direct control over it's trainers/affiliates. By saying "thou shalt pass our test before using our name," they are hoping to secure their trademark but in doing so, they are essentially dictating the terms by which someone can "sell" their exercise system. This is not unlike McDonalds telling its franchisees they must do X Y and Z or they cannot be a franchise.
From another angle, telling previously certified people that their certs are no longer "valid" unless they pay for, and pass, another "new" level of testing is essentially a breach of contract. You paid for X thinking it would get you Y, then the seller turns around and says "No, actually now you need to pay MORE to get Y."
If only the affiliates would wisen up, they could form some sort of a franchise/trade organization and really put the screws to HQ. They could then have power and a say over HQ's practices instead of just being willing whipping boys.
This is all very terrific!
