The big difference is that after they started to chastise the polite heretics, like Rant and myself, things started to turn uglier. Then when Glassman revealed his love for character assassination with Josh Hillis, then Mark Twight, then Dan John, it went off the rails, and was no longer considering any ideas outside the core 'groupthink'.

Pre-fucking-cisely. Dumping us emboldened his henchmen. The Kool-Aid got thicker and more potent. The public dressing down of Josh was like watching someone kick a crippled kid in the balls. It was at this point where I got a pretty solid idea of what couch was all about then he took it to another level in the Dan John incident. These were dark days indeed boys and girls.

The good old days...the assassinations were revealing for quite a few of us. I loved Rant's old "Remember Jonestown" avatar. Good times there. I stuck around from about 2003 to 2006 or 2007, then got the hell out of there. Amazingly, I'm stronger, faster, and more athletic than I was from doing @F for those years, though to be fair, it did get me eating better and got me out of doing BS workouts.

It amuses me to see people defend couch as not being a complete and total asshole. I knew a few of the guys that have stuck around and the defenses of the undressings of Josh, Mark, and Dan were hilarious to listen to. It was no different than listening to a religious zealot.

Tony Budding and his whole schtick of "You don't know what really happened!" when I'd just got off the fucking phone with 3 of the people involved in that bullshit (other than couch) was beyond stupid and ridiculous. What a feebleminded attempt at spindoctoring. A disgusting illustration of how things were going to be.

The amount of inside knowledge that makes it's way towards me via both first hand and second hand sources is astonishing. I wish I would have never listened to Dan when he said "Check out this Crossfit stuff, some of it's kind of cool."
