got my first crossfit OUCH today. Was doing 24 inch box jumps this morning. On number 81 my brother in law started talking to me and got me distracted. Came down on my left knee, then rolled and the box slammed into it again above the knee! YIKES! Hurt like hell but pissed me off more than anything. Got up off the ground and knocked another twenty out just to show that inanimate object who was boss! Go Corssfit!Comment #189 - Posted by: warecreek at April 14, 2011 12:33 PM

Well, this was my first wod....oh my! 380 lunges...~30 min. from reading comments, looks like I have some improving to do, but proud of myself for doing it.

Previous best was 11:20
Did 100 burpees and box jumps yesterday...legs are TIRED...really had to push the last 100 to get close to my previous time
Tonight

Legs felt tired...did burpees yesterday jumping back and forth over a barbell I guess it wore my legs out...felt tired really had to push myself to get close to my previous time

@Angiestone (#17)
I had a pull/tear feeling in my calf at mile 1 of a 5K while wearing huaraches (sandals) when I just started barefoot running. I finished the race, but it was very sore for a few weeks, the only solution was to take it easy and give it time to heal.

Everything's gotta be a race in Crossfit. So much of that could be averted if people didn't treat everything like a race.

Above all else, that is the problem I have with crossfit. Every. Single. Day. Is 100% competition effort. You can only do that for so long before something's got to give.

I guess I'm getting soft. I don't understand why people continue to hurt themselves to get better at nothing.

Yeah, but that's a kind of an isolated and controlled situation. I'm talking about out in the wild.

It reminds me of discussions on the difference between a training max and a competition max. What are the results of hitting a competition max 3 out of 4 days on a continous basis? Just take a look at the past 980 pages.

Even beyond the physiological consequences of going balls out every day, I just don't see how they can mentally phyche themselves up for that kind of effort on a continual basis. Going to that place where you're hurting at 100% effort takes a huge mental toll that I'm simply not capable of repeating all that often.

I can remember hard training blocks in cycling where I was hitting it hard for 4-5 days in a row before backing off. Thinking about going out for the 3rd day of intervals or hill repeats was worse mentally than the physical fatigue.

Sailing - The fine art of getting wet and becoming ill, while going nowhere slowly at great expense (equivalent to standing in a cold shower, fully clothed, throwing up, and tearing up $100 bills, while a bunch of other people watch you).
i see parallels here...

I dont think any @fitter has approached this in truth. Maybe in their own mind with their own limits but not truthfully.

I tussled with a negro boy who had been smoking weed dipped in formaldehyde many moons ago. Three hard knees to the face didn't faze him but holding his head underwater until he stopped blowing bubbles took the fight right out of him. I wish I had had time to shoot him when he nearly t boned me at a roadblock.

The best part was he didn't remember any of the the police brutality the next day.

Nope. Gary is our resident negro and is willing to plow the fields of any willing white female but he is unwilling to create crossbreed babies.

I think I love you too.

For the record, I'm all for letting people do as they will, fuck and reproduce as they choose without satisfying anybody else's notions about what's proper. But I like the white race. It's given the world so much great stuff. And they're wimmen folk have their strong points. I'd hate to see them bred out of existence.
