Wow, lot of friggin work, and one expensive hacked up Glock. First he decides he's not a .40 fanboy anymore and buys barrels and mags to convert it to 9mm. Next he dremel cutting tool to the grip messing up resell possibilities. Why not just get the compact XDm? You can use short magazines and longer magazines with decent grip extensions. Or get a Sig P250 or P320 with the 4" barrel and get the subcompact frame to attach to it?johno wrote:

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.
Re: The couch thread
I deeply regret taking a soldering iron to the frame of a Gen2 Glock 22 that I found dirt cheap. It actually does feel better in the hand now but if I ever move to a non-gun friendly state I'm basically going to have to melt it because that is one ugly motherfucker no one would buy from me for a dollar.

I'm not going to dremel tool my Glock. I have people for that - $70 for a cutdown from Cold Bore Customs.j-cubed wrote:Wow, lot of friggin work, and one expensive hacked up Glock.johno wrote:

As to why the Glock - I like Glocks & shoot them well. They fit my big spider hands. It will be a one-time purchase for an everyday carry piece...won't cost that much.

Sure...there are plenty of good Muslim people, sure, plenty of them are secular scholarly reasonable folk, sure...these people can be found by the kajillion on all continents....just like non practicing Catholics and Jews, and Hindus...
but when it comes to the ideology and the way Islam/CF is intended to be practiced....when you READ THE ACTUAL WORDS
.....that shit is whacked and fundamentally incompatible with rational thought and sound sports practice.

Re: The couch thread
So some online lifting acquaintance invited you to the Games, and you bought a plane ticket and hotel room and said "honey and kids, I'm heading to Cali for a few days to hang out with some fitness strangers?"Shafpocalypse Now wrote:So, here's the facts
1. Greg Glassman invited me to the games.
2. I went.
3. I shook hands, kissed babies, and bridges were rebuilt, mingled with the crossfitterati (including certain CF.com forum mods)
4. The only uncool person (briefly) I met was Joe Manganiello (Sofia Vergara's husband)...and I say that because of the way he treated people, including folks just working there. The folks I met at the games were, almost to a 't', chill and cool. Bob Harper was a down to earth and friendly guy.
5. You cannot say that Crossfit doesn't work. Spectators were jacked. Competitors were jacked. The fittest sports crowd I have ever seen. I suspect Crossfit, as exercise, has worked better for more people than any other kind of exercise program.
I'll address your comment, BD:
Crossfit is as legit as any other non-Olympic sport. The competitors exhibited great all around fitness, conditioning, and skill at the events. It's morphed into it's own thing. As a lifter/thrower type you only have legitimacy if you are an olympic lifter or a T&F thrower.

Re: The couch thread
Wow. "Unapologetic". Clearly, Castro has matured with age and experience... Shocking...
Did he talk about how Glock and CF were a perfect fit because they were both tools that were functional across a broad range of modalities, etc?
