They used to belong to law enforcement officers across California, but a new Bay Area News Group investigation found hundreds of police-issued weapons have been either stolen, lost or can’t be accounted for since 2010, often disappearing onto the streets without a trace.

Their guns have been stolen from behind car seats and glove boxes, swiped from gym bags, dresser drawers and under beds. They have been left on tailgates, car roofs and even atop a toilet paper dispenser in a car dealership’s bathroom. One officer forgot a high-powered assault rifle in the trunk of a taxi. The tally includes Colts, Rugers, Smith & Wessons, a Derringer, a .44-caliber Dirty Harry hand cannon and a small snub-nosed revolver called a “Detective Special.” In all, since 2010, at least 944 guns have disappeared from police in the Bay Area and state and federal agents across California — an average of one almost every other day — and fewer than 20 percent have been recovered.

They canceled the order due to what they considered an outrageously high licensing fee by the inventor.

Buddy who's life has been a living hell in lower-management at a firearms distributor for the last year has basically been given a paid week off now. Orders after Tuesday night dropped by 75% even with Christmas coming because so many shops had been over-buying in anticipation.

Gonna be some dirt cheap ARs in a month or so.

I can't remember the not-AR/not-handgun thread, but I got my tax stamp back after six months for the CZ Skorpion SBR. Went and got it engraved at a knife shop so it's fully legal now.

Not useful for hunting or anything but if you were into that sort of thing and wanted a home-defense 'rifle' I think you could do a lot worse than this option. Short, mobile, light, easy shooting and if you went all-in with a suppressor and 147gr rounds (fairly sure they're all subsonic) it would be very close to hearing-safe.

I train a kid who works at MidwayUSA. They had an entire extra warehouse full of AR ammo, magazines, and parts in preparation for if Hillary won. He said it would last a week if she won, but was enough for years if she lost. Now they're going to have "Black Week" instead of Black Friday, starting the Monday before Thanksgiving, so look for that if you're interested. Also, no limits on ammo/mag purchases and a free ammo can with any ammo purchase.

I love those Scorpions. I decided to build a Glock style 9mm AR instead so I could buy it one piece at a time.

I am curious if ammo prices will drop at all, it's disheartening to go deep into the ammo safe and find boxes of new production .45 where I paid $5/50.

Yeah, your basic M4 carbine clone from PSA with just iron sights. I did spend a tiny bit extra to put a range-adjustable rear sight on. I'd also like to put a scoped long barreled upper together or more probably a complete rifle specifically for longer range target shooting if I ever get the time for more practice in. 100 yards is plenty right now given my limited free time.

I don't know how cheap you want to go, but PSA is very reasonable. And the barrels are mil-spec, basically FN barrels.

PSA is basically good products on a budget. Not top of the line, but not a bottom-feeder for sure. If you can wait for what you want to be a daily deal (unpredictable) you can get a darned good deal. my M4 style complete upper with FN barrel was $320 without charging handle or bolt carrier.

Their normal mil-spec barrels are Wilson, the NON-CHF but FN made barrels are button-rifled, but the same "machine gun" steel as the FN CHF. Stainless barrels I don't know.

It is critical with PSA to actually read the description carefully. They have a lot of variations in product because it's all made for them by different companies, and what's on sale will be whatever batches have just arrived.

You will see a lot complaints of slow shipping online. I think this was during the great AR demand. I have not had any delays myself.

If you haven't yet, check out Aero. They make parts for a lot of big name companies and their barrels are made by Ballistic Advantage, a small outfit that makes accurate barrels for reasonable prices. Last I heard they use Douglass blanks.

Maybe the local Walmart will be able to actually keep ammo on the shelves now that people aren't stockpiling the shit out of it....

.22 has been around here for the past 6 months if you were willing to hunt around for it. Yesterday, I actually saw shelves full of it at Dick's and I was shocked.
