Mark Twight’s attacks on CrossFit risk the lives of soldiers and police.
Wow. Just wow. I look forward to the next installment, where Gym Jones is perverting America's youth and Couch is forced to sue him because he believes that the children are the future...
Say what you want about lawyers; ours, and their generosity, are vital to this programs existence.)
OK, I'm a lawyer, but this made me LOL. Kind of a sad reflection on your program if you credit its continued existence to the "generosity" of your lawyers.

I wonder how many 1/6 hour increments they were billed and at what rate for these warm fuzzies?
- If the roles were reversed, Twight would come after Glassman in a micro-second. See his post on the xfit forum in response to some guy who posted an essay by him.
- Twight has a history of publishing on fitness (I have Extreme Alpinism book) so you can chart his change in approach. The change before and after his exposure to xfit is night and day. His approach now is so similar to xfit as to be essentially the same.
- Coach brought much of this on himself by not keeping his mouth shut on the net, making enemies where none need be made.
- Trying to make a living in the fitness business sucks.
Well, when I look over the posted work at Gym Jones, and then over at CrossFit,GJ does seem to be built on the CF model, but is definatly improved. They do not count bad form ondrill, they insist on the proper form to get the full effect possable and for safety.
Strait CrossFit will fuck up those Operators who continue to be married to Glassman's Dogma, those who use the basic concept of X-fit, but listen to their bodies and mix it with other modalitieswould be fine.
ANd all this Lawyer BS, no one owns the Push up, the Pull up, the swing, Oly lifts or any of it. Once it's out there, it's out there.
Sure credit for forming a school of thought should be giving, but Coach can't sue because someone else is teaching balls out 20 minute workouts, utilizing Tri Plexes and circuits, or he better sue JC Sanatana, more than half the PTs in the US and millions sense the begining of time.
Fat Bloated Old Tool, there are some good folks over there, but God wake up,leave the Org and do your own thing CF based or not.
Why pay$$$ to be his affiliate, save the $$$ for equipment.

I'm pretty sure he owns Eva.
A novice is someone who keeps asking himself if he is a novice. An intermediate is someone who is sick of training with weak people and an advanced person doesn't give a shit anymore. - Jim Wendler

It's not a xfit thing, it's an intellectual property/copyright thing. If you look at the PDF, last page, Mark Twight presents close to verbatim copyrighted material from a xfit journal article, and claims it as under his own copyright. That be wrong to do. It is all the more funny when you read Mark's "I'm gonna #$% you up if you copy my stuff" speil on his web page. Unleash the hounds of jurisprudence.
I've got copyrighted software, patents, and publish journal articles, so this field is unfortunately near and dear to my heart.

Does he rent out her lower half?
He's got da copyright, dude. Sorry.

Cooch et al are making a fucking KILLING with Crossfit. And, since he and his team came up with the model, that's all fine and dandy.
The certs are ~$1200 a PERSON for 2 days. The regularly get 50+ people in a cert. Not bad for a weekend's work, eh? Look at all the certs happening...they are going to be in the six figures just from certs, even given they are paying their XF trainers "X" amount of dollars to run them.
Affiliates have to pay a fee each year.
Not to mention sales of the CFJ, because last time I checked, writers got paid NOTHING for an article.

Cool. I imagine Twight did alright with training the 300 folks and now the military. Good for him. But using someone else's copyrighted material and presenting it as your own in order to make a buck? That's just plain bad-wrong. Proper procedure is to ask permission, and then in the text it would say, "Used with Permission...".
Your youtube videos are your copyright (I think). Wouldn't you be a bit peeved if someone was making some coin off them, especially someone you had bad blood with?
I don't think anyone here thinks Twight is a stupid man. He went into this fully knowing what kind of relationship he and GG were going to have in the future. I'd be very, very surprised if he hadn't legally covered his ass already.
The fact that Couch hasn't sued him yet is very, very telling.

Smart people do stupid things all the time. See Google buying Youtube and getting sued for $1B by Viacom for evidence. Not saying that is the case here, but the simple evidence laid out by cooch is compelling. Looks like sloppiness on Mark's part to me.

Again, not really. Most crap never makes it to court. Letters are sent, your lawyer talks to my lawyer, etc. It's usually a business decision.
You tell me, looking at the xfit journal excerpt and then the excerpt from Mark's materials. Did Mark's stuff come from the journal? Mark's stuff even still has the goofy coach-speak in it like "molecular foundations". Who else talks like that?
If you can't or won't even try to do what you preach then STFU. I heard through the grapevine about a month or two ago that Couch was looking to sue Twight. If thats the case then he probably needs to sue all the wrestling coaches out there too. Twight mentions on his webpage that a part of his system is based on CF. Twight paid his money for the cert, and of course got the "weak performer" stamp from the cert just as Mr. Cotter did. If you paid your money you should be able to use that cert for your own business right?
All this is over GJ being used by certain military outfits and of course 300, which has pissed Couch off. Damn how did we ever win any wars without CF? I gave that program an honest go as a stand alone for 6 months in 2004 and it did nothing but screw up my back and hurt my run times, but hey I could do more kipping pullups. Some of it is worthwhile and some more of it is crap. I take what I find useful and throw the rest away.
You are exactly correct in your summation, wine sodden or not, and overly generous in your praise of me. For you and the rest of this fine community I offer my motivation and my deepest gratitude.
When Mark’s weakness was publicly revealed at our seminar I ordered cameras turned off to mitigate his obvious embarrassment.
When he couldn’t get a muscle-up I bought him rings and coached him over the phone to success.
When deployed soldiers told me that he’d hidden from them the origins of “his new programâ€

That's the thing the makes it all to funny to me.
How that hell can someone really think that some fat ass is an authority on anything except eating Krispy Kremes and downing a large bag of Doritos?

Let this be a reminder to those who will not submit to the will of Glassman:
