Basically H2H with a shot. He uses a 20lb metal one in the DVD. I have 16lb indoor shot. He sells both kinds in all weights. Everythingtrackand field has lots of different kinds - that's where I got mine.
If you have both H2H DVDs it's probably not worth buying the DVD, but for 14.95, it's probably still worth getting the ipod version even if you only watch it once to see the form.
It's great stuff. Really good warmup/mobility/cardio that's more interesting to do then most stuff. Good shoulder work if your shoulder won't take a lot of heavy work, like mine.
Carrying the shot is way easier then a KB which makes it great for the gym and travel. Great for a suitcase.
Jeff is his ususal quiet self, but very clear and good instruction. Nice production.

No fucknuts, it won't. I actually finished my 60 day palate cleansing, just doing snatches mainly, a while ago. Pretty much took care of what I wanted it too, but the shoulder was still complaing, so I did the just cleans thing, which seemed to take care of the shoulder, but was a little boring. Started to work in open palm cleans for variety, which lead to the shot. But thanks for asking.Doughboy wrote:Won't that interfere with 4 other experiments you have going?bill fox wrote:Just a note - the more I do this the more I think it might be a litttle stroke of genius. I thought the light weight would make it strictly a warm up type deal, but it's clearly not. Since the weight is always being thrown, or caught, it's like a perfect strength endurance thing, at least it feels that way to me. Lot's of mobility work too. Obviously for someone trying to maintain high 1 RM strength it's not the deal, but it seems like it may be one stop shopping for alot of other stuff. We'll see after a couple months.

A friend lent this to me and I have not viewed it until today during a thunderstorm. Real good stuff. Carrying a SHOT is easier than a KBell, and if you throw in some bands, you are good to go. This will NOT increase 1RM but is very active, good mobility, and never boring. Jeff Martone is clear and concise in his instruction. He has had two operations on his right shoulder and one on his left, so he is a living example of how training can me managed and the body can be healed.
The leg work, (various lunges, Tac lunges, Deck squats, shuffles, and side lunges) with hand motions, should pump up the cardio. Jeff offers shots up to 18lbs. If you were motivated, you could cut and grind the handle off of a kettlebell and make one as big as you want. I can't see anything beyond a 26lb or 36lb being applicable for the moves.
The abdominal work is nice and Jeff adds some partner drills if you train with a sane person and not an idiot..
Thumbs up. Good work.

A while back I did a cycle of my cardio days being SHOT. I alternated between using a 16 and using a 12 with a weight vest on. All of the above is accurate as far as variety, interest, etc goes (I used the Ipod version to get going.)
It can be heart-explodingly intense interval cardio: I shot up over 200BPM several times. Sweat like horse, puff like tractor.
I added in some of TF's "Silat Lunges" as well, and on SHOT days I would usually finish up with a 12# shotbag (heavy ballistic nylon beanbag, filled with BB's) doing toss and grab and also ab drops.
My only complaints are that you need a good place to do it, where you can drop the weight (because you will) and that it makes my forearm trigger pts light up.
I've figured out how/where to do it in my new gym, and I think that I'll be using the 12+vest, and Knobbling out my forearm pts immediately after each session. Fun stuff to put into rotation.
GDG!

GDG..you mentioned
you started with the ipod version. Is that because you have an ipod or did you use itunes and dowload it to a p.c.? I'm wondering if I will be able to download to a palmone.
Also, yoiu mention about dropping the shot and needing a place to do that. If you use one of the indoor shots, would there be a problem with doing the shot in the house?
I'm thinking about ordering the ipod version and doing the workout at home; although I am a member of a gym.

I just didn't want to have yet another DVD knocking around, so I DL'ed the ipod version and I watch it on Itunes. I have no idea what other device will or won't play it.wyliec wrote:you started with the ipod version. Is that because you have an ipod or did you use itunes and dowload it to a p.c.? The soft shots AFAIK can be dropped any old place. They're just pricey so I got iron ones.
