Holy fuck, is this grim and depressing.

Unlike most of the reviews I read, I didn't really see any condemnation of US military power or any sort of "Iraq metaphor." The stuff the military is doing in this film seems pretty reasonable in light of the stakes. So you hawks can watch without getting pissed off.

OTOH, here's a synopsis:

"Oh, that's an interesting character. I wonder wh- oh shit."

"Hm, I know that actor. Pretty good. Going to be a pivotal char- oh shit."

"Gee, this character has quite the inner conflict going on. I hope tha- oh shit."

You get the idea. No one is safe, and for this reason I found it to create a realistic feeling of dread.

Not a date film; some of the violence is extremely graphic and disturbing.

I thought his change was well-done.

So, did you watch it with the missus? My wife did a lot of screaming and holding up a pillow during the uh, "thumbs" scene.

I also very much liked the first scene; very good claustrophobia, and shock when the door opens.

I just always have problems with characters like Him. Part of what I think is scary about zombies is that they're egoless and alien. More like an earthquake than a n invading army.

The opening scene was one of the best ever.
