Metallica- Death Magnetic

Post by Ryan »

Got this last weekend and I have to say I really like it. Not quite like the old days, but pretty hard. A lot of the songs are over 7 minutes long. I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

Yeah, I like it too. DM is much better than St.Anger, Load and Reload, imo. Pretty heavy stuff...not exactly MOP, but definitely a solid CD.

Good to hear. The last three sucked. I need something new to work out to. This might be the ticket.

I remember seeing them in concert in 1987.

the lyrics are absolute rubbish. There's certainly no Sanitarium, Puppets, One, or Nothing else matters on this record
But guitar work and drums are excellent. I bought this the same day I threw Load(ofshit) in the bin, that was the last Metallica album i bought.

I agree about the lyrics. I actually like Load. And to tell you the truth Garage, Inc is one of my favorites. Great covers.

All that being said, nothing will top MOP or ...And Justice For All.

Metalica mixed their Misfits with their Lynard Skynard and ended up sounding like a half assed, metalic ZZ Top.

After that somewhat worthy POS that was the Black Album and the heartbreaking "Fuck You Old Schoolers, were courting Yuppies and Mullets World Tour 91-93" when they could have put out an album of chunk chunk chunk guitar for 40 minutes and sold 10 million copies, there fore allowing them the commercial clout to produce their metalic Magnum Opus (In hopes it was not MOP) and release their ultimate bad assed metla album, what do they do?

They give us a "Yeah! YEAH!" fest of uninspired music for rednecks, with a cover of shit blood and cum between glass and called, appropriatly LOAD.

As in a load of shit.

Glenn Danzig called and wants his schtick back!

So they somewhat redeem themselves by adding a few new recordings of them fucking off with friends to a bad assed old EP, featuring the first recordings of the bass player tyhey had just forced out of the band.

TEAM METALICA!

But behold Metalica aint done sucking yet!

No they give us a documentary film of following their fucked up ,laime yuppie ases around and their therapist.

FAGS!

And you can play out of tune, in wierd times all you fucking want, but St.Anger sounds like a child having a tantrum with power tools and broken dishes.

Metalica blows....SLAYER KILLS!!!!!! :supz: :supz:    :supz: :supz:

I dunno about the rest of the album, but I've been hearing the first release on the radio.

All I can say is, with all the fuss that Metallica has made about people stealing their music via P2P, you'd think that they'd try to produce something WORTH stealing.

Jeez Dylna that was kinda harsh. I hope you didn't bring too many Metallica fans to tears or made them crave a corner to hide.

Outside of that, Metallica can bite me.

Truth. Clash of the Titans Tour anyone? Alice in Chains opened when I saw them. Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer. That was sick.

I saw "The New Titans On the Block Tour the same year.

Sick of it All, Sacrid Reich, Sepaltura and a few others I forgot.

What I have heard on their website is very average. Certainly better than their last few albums but nothing great. Metallica peaked with Master of puppets and they have been downhill ever since. Even Rick Rubin could not save them. He took Slayer to the next level with Reign of blood in 86 but Metallica is a lost cause.

Metallica is horrible now. Mahler's correct, not even Rick Rubin could save them. They tried to get back to what made them great but they have jumped the shark in a bad way. I heard about that documentary they did and I just can't bring myself to watch it. I think it would ruin listening to Kill em All, Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightening and Garage Days Rerevisted. The sound on the songs I heard were super compressed and sounded like some shitty Blink 182 bullshit. When it comes to Metallica, just say no.

Metallica sucks and they should do a tour with Henry Rollins called "selling out, getting rich, and trying to look like badasses tour"

I am glad Jason Newstead left Metallica and had the integrity to go his own route.

Anyway, fuck Metallica. Slayer beats them every time. While Slayer is not the most innovative band in the world, they never sold out and have a loyal fan following. All of the members make a great income and have great lifestyles without selling out. Now that is success!

Harley's War blows Metallica away and I cannot wait to get the final album out:

Ha! No kidding. They could go on tour together and do a documentary that would air on the Oxygen Channel. Soft and Sissified.

I hear you on all accounts. Harley's War has the Roger Miret stamp of approval?!! That's all you had to say. I just listened to them covering "Hard Times" on youtube-awesome. I love the old NYC Hardcore stuff...Seems like there is a resurgence in the scene with bands like Madball and Harley's War taking the stage. I miss the old hardcore scene that I grew up with. Great bands, great lyrics that were "real", great crazy-ass shows, great people that I could count on when the chips were down. Salad days maybe. Thanks for the heads up on Harley's War.

Metallica's new crappy album is just another reminder that we are in the dark ages of music. So much so that I laid down thousands to help Harley make an album. Sure, it is businesss and I want to make a nice return. However, it is also because I want to hear some real music with heart rather than all the pseudo bad ass bullshit that is ubiqutious right now.
