Re: The couch thread
Really? IMO, "Modern Society" has the following issues that are "sad":CrossFit is a great thing .... It ... does a great deal to counter many of the issues that make modern society a sad thing.
1) Racism
2) Growing "poor" population
a) Social services / healthcare abuse
3) Dependence on foreign oil
4) Banking/credit/political rigor mortis
5) Illegal Immigration
6) Kipping pullups

These are not pullups, and I don't mean because she's kipping.

I mean because there's no pull, there's a kip that gives her an inch or two of vertical displacement.
And there's no up. The top of her head barely gets to the bar.
You could do this without being able to one dead hang strict throat to the bar pullup.
Congrats on your 10 clapping kipping hanging from the bar things.
What a joke.

I thought the first word there looked like "When," so it might be "When in the course of human events..." etc.Anon wrote:You have our gratitude:Rant wrote:Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. You understand that they shit like this as a badge of honor, right? It's because they're so intense, they can't be contained in a gym set up for mere mortals.T200 wrote:Friend of mine just sent me this pic on my phone...
Look for that picture to show up on the main site soon.

Re: The couch thread
Vern Gambetta...
Here is the scenario.
I wake up log unto How2BHurt.com and get the workout of the day.
Mind you this is the same workout if you are 17 or 70, male or female, an endurance athlete or a speed/power athlete. I am amazed at the number of people that do this. Stop and think for a minute, what is wrong with this picture? Logic and best practice tells us that one size does not fit all., then when would anyone do this? That is not even taking into account the actual workouts on some of these sites. This is not training. Training must have clear progression in incremental steps toward measurable goals. If you are a coach or an individual following this madness take a long hard look at why you are doing what you are doing and when? I maintain training is a mindful process that should incorporate variability and variety with a purpose. Canned programs that assume that one size fits are a misfit. Evaluate these programs using good training principles and see if they stand up. Don’t get caught up in the hype, find a program that fits you and your specific needs. Just because it is hard is hard does not mean it is training. Frankly it is easy to design a program to bury someone, that is not training, it is abuse.

Brian "I'm a competitive athlete even though I never won shit" MacKenzie of @Fit Endurance can add another FAIL on his race history.
From the @Fit Journal http://journal.crossfit.com/2010/02/quad-dipsea.tpl
Coach of fanatical idiots, claiming injury sidelining him yet still insisting his ass is elite...All he needs to complete the Full Couch is to gain another 50 lbs in Gin Weight.
From the @Fit Journal http://journal.crossfit.com/2010/02/quad-dipsea.tpl
Since DBag, I mean BMack, pussied out of the HURT 100 this year in January, blaming a tendon injury [Note: There is more evidence that the HURT 100 course kicked his sorry ass in 2008 since he couldn't even cover 20 miles on that course (results: http://www.run100s.com/results/ht08.htm)], he sure as shit was registered for the Quad Dipsea (registered list: http://www.run100s.com/qd09entrants.htm). But checking the results, the fucking hose bag isn't listed. (http://www.run100s.com/results/qd09.htm)Started by Kelly Starrett and the gang at San Francisco CrossFit, Team Un-Scared is for athletes who are blah-blah-blah. Fifteen athletes joined Starrett and Brian MacKenzie of CrossFit Endurance for the challenge on Nov. 28, 2009.
