Re: The couch thread
I knew about it the day it happened. It was on CF site and on FB and on Twitter and on IGX. You motherfuckers lurk here enough to know. It's amazing how they all know the minute that someone says anything about @fit (Rip, Kilgore, T-Nation) but can't find out when someone dies at an affilate. I found out that Couch called with "condolences" but it sounded vey "West coast sleazy"Steve Rakow

Doug,
I'm not sure how you found out about this, but I just learned of it late today. I just discussed this with some other affiliate owners who were unaware as well. The title of the thread "Dede" tells us nothing about a CrossFitter passing away. This is very sad indeed and the entire CrossFit community is saddened by the loss of one of our own.
I wish there had been more info put out there. We can all learn from tragedies like this.

So sad to hear this. That someone could die doing what they love though isn't a bad way to go - it's the ultimate modal domain.
Does HQ have a charity set up?
died doing what she loved? yes, i'm sure dede's greatest passion in life was laying in hospital beds while bleeding internally on a massive scale

North Carolina has some serious ass running around. I was in Wilmington about two years ago and it was better than most places in that regard. More movie and TV shoots go on there than any place except L.A. and NYC. I figure that contributes nicely to the scenery.

Given how they spend all their free time yapping on the HQ forums, it's odd that neither Renee "Quisling" Lee nor Tamara "I'm not insecure, here's a pic to prove it" Cohen have offered their condolences, nor have they jumped in there to hijack the thread and talk about themselves.Botototo wrote:http://www.board.crossfit.com/showpost. ... stcount=22chi wrote:serious, where? link?Botototo wrote:"So sad to hear this. Re: The couch thread
Can't you see this shit happening though? A small, albeit loud, branch of the CF sheep will start praising those who workout to the point of death. Athletic Absolution. Sacrafice everything for the sake of CrossFit: Join and die happily, or live a life plagued by doubt, fear, and women with >6% bodyfat!

How did you knobs miss this:
http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/Agai ... rious7.wmv
The best is how the guy at the start is bragging about creating something awesome, how proud he is, and then you discover it is high rep heavy weightlifting in a fatigued state with dumb rules (hands stay on bar, bouncing allowed, seriously bouncing cleans, no proper setup possible). Injury remains not a mathematical reality despite people taking knees, almost smashing knees into elbows. 40 seconds/7 reps so about 5 seconds a rep, awesome. What the hell is a 7 rep max clean. No one even says anything in comments either except praise. It's honestly amazing.
Edit: Couch has a squat, unlike Dan John http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/Cros ... review.wmv

these people have mommy issues, the fact that they actually went through some method of verification based on name and location concerns me. Cults do this...weird fuckers there for sure.

Secondly, that Gaymes video was fucking awesome. So much amusement in one short clip.
Re: The couch thread
I could not figure out why everyone was not bouncing if that was ok, like the guy at 2:15 - he's got it figured out.

Re: The couch thread
When I heard that "he" said "Dan John has no squat," that still remains the oddest thing ever said about me. I admit, I struggle with Air Squats, but when you look over my body of work as an athlete (605 Back Squat for three Olympic Style, no belt, no wraps, deep), a competitive, on the platform, at a meet, snatch with 314, hundreds of Front Squats over 400) and my work with athletes (I invented the Goblet Squat long before, like the Slosh Pipe, it was invented by someone else...just because "you say so" on your website doesn't make it true), it is simply silly.
