"This is my gym.

These bars are my bars. When I put more bumpers on the ends, I get stronger. But when I take heavy weight off, I can go faster.

These rings are my rings. When I am strong, I can hold my arms out farther and test my strength. But when I am weaker, I draw everything close and just hang on.

This iron is my iron. The weight I try to lift in this life. It hurts me but it makes me grow. I’m stronger now than I was a week ago, a month ago, a year ago, a decade ago. And I’m only getting stronger.

Does that scare you? It should. My power is legendary, my strength is inspiring, my life is a testimony to the heart that beats so strong in me and the soul that goes so deep.

I am a CrossFitter. And this is my gym."

@fit watertown. the scary thing is how many of the koolaid drinkers actually believe in this drivel

The two things that stand out to me most about @fit are its tendency to produce hot/strong wimmin and its tendency to produce overwritten tripe.

We've had a few Couchies making appearances at our gym the last few months. Our OL coach appears to be giving lessons to a few of them. They're of course identifiable by the standard markings of vibrams, needing a cheeseburger, struggling with 90kg squats, and deadlifting less than my wife while trying to make up for it by supersetting with ugly pushups. For time, to make it elite.

@fit is an impressive way to fail at all aspects of fitness.

There is no Rx for women because there is no inherent reason to use less weight. I addressed this on the Games site a few days ago:

I'll explain some of the rationale for why we don't "post the women's Rx" on the main site. The reason is because there is no women's "Rx" separate from what is posted. I know that there is a broad misconception out there that we do in fact have official women's weights. Instead, there are common scales that people use for comparison purposes (such as Fran at 65lbs), but these are not sanctioned official by us. Now, you might think this is sexist, but it's not. Most of the top women can do Fran as Rx'd (meaning 95lbs) faster than most average male CFers. Kelly Moore, a woman in her 40s, can do Diane as Rx'd faster than almost every male CFer.

In the Games, we assign different weights (and sometimes different reps or other modifications) for the women because we believe it will make a better competition that day for those women. But that is just for the sake of that one competition. For example, in the Clean/HSPU event at the Games this year, we debated what the women's weight should be. We settled on 135lbs, but after watching the event, I think we went too light. It should have been 145 or 150lbs.

To presume that women, or any other population, are limited to some percentage of anyone else is simply wrong. It's probably even sexist.
Stronger or not, this nonsense has touched off a shitstorm amongst Team Gorilla's Andro Broads on Facebook (where HQ can't delete their dissenting opinions) who are ready to tar and feather Budding for his idiocy.

Pretty much the best thing HQ could do to reboot its flagging image would be to hire The Gorilla on as head of PR, but I don't think that will happen.

Please tell your OL coach that he is on an impossible quest. How do you want to teach the Olympic lifts to someone who is weak as a kitten, wears ridiculous shoes and is completely underweight? Besides that, what's the point? So that they can bang out more 135 lbs cleans?

]Fine, but the names have been redacted to protect the andro.

Andro Broad1 So if the scale-downs aren't sanctioned by HQ, why the fuck are they listing these women's times at the non-sanctioned prescription as if we're supposed to aspire to their subpar performance at their subpar weights?

I suppose this is what they call "protecting the brand". Despite everything, CF just keeps getting bigger and richer. They don't care if these people churn, HQ has already gotten all the money they will get from those particular people.

Took DD a while to learn this, but it is indeed an effective business plan.

Here's an even better one:

Andro Broad1 Where are you/what have you been doing that is so thoroughly pissing you off?
12 hours ago · Comment · Like · See Wall-to-Wall

Andro Broad2 Well, there was a CrossFit article that pissed me off. It's posted below on my page. I am rather "upset" about it. Read the comments on it, and you might see why. I am now 2/3 of the way done with grading my students' final papers, which is what I was SUPPOSED to be doing, haha.

Andro Broad1 Apparently the thread is being heavily censored? I don't see much to be incensed about in the comments (other than the dumb ass quotes from the announcers). I think HQ gets a shit ton of money from women and they should program like it.

Andro Broad2 It's HQ's explanation about women's Rx weights or lack thereof, which I am calling bullshit on. And, yes, at least one person's comment has been removed.
