I saw that. The shit in the book had no mention of what 50k Ferriss was even doing. My guess is that he never signed up for anything and/or he pussied out. Another possibility is that the entire book is just pure bullshit.Quackmire wrote:Damn. I'm amazed that the specialized insects in @FE hate haven't caught this already.
In Ferriss' "Four Hour Body" he does the written fellatio of @FE and BMacNCheez. Talks about from "5k to 50k" in 12 weeks.
There's a short bit at the end of those two chapters along the lines of, "well, we were on a tight publishing schedule and we weren't able to include the ending to this portion, so there's a cliffhanger...check this website http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/ultra/ for the end of the story."
Could this be @FE's most famous DNF to date? Stay tuned, true believers!

She needs to break loose and start her own enduro guru thing. People would follow her. The fact that she doesn't want to be a guru only further qualifies her for the role.

Because she puts in the miles necessary to finish a race like this. She trains for ultras, she doesn't train using 5k's and tabata sprints in the hopes that they will translate to a better 50 mile time.WildGorillaMan wrote:Addendum, not only did she finish the race on the verge of hypothermia, she did it while oozing blood from her ribcage from her sports bra chaffing her raw.MarcoFP wrote:Diva > MayorMcCheeseWildGorillaMan wrote:I'd like to take this moment to point out that Dirt Diva just ran some insane ultra race and finished 2nd among ladies and 11th overall, and she did it while flirting with hypothermia.

Once you learn to tolerate discomfort like she does, you learn to block it out.
Props to her.
I am not a fan of distance running but I do respect those ultra runners a ton.

That you still hold on to the thought of liking crossfit just shows how deep you are in the peer-group/cult.

Calling it all kinds of names is fine. Having real reason to drag HQ through the mud is great. However, all of that notwithstanding, there are tens of thousands of people out here, like me, who have found something that makes us happy.
We like the workouts. We love and adore the community. We are stoned out of our minds with all those cool chemicals we are producing, meeting new people we really like, and if we never, ever, go to a competition in our lives, never win a meet or make a name for ourselves, wake up two years later surrounded by people we like who share a passion, feeling better than we did two years ago. I've been doing it for two years. I still love it.
There are also many who get injured, hit plateaus, get pissed and angry for REAL and VALID reasons, decide the whole thing is bullshit and do something else.
So. If it makes the people who love it douchebag moron idiotic assholes to you.. it's all good. The people who are happy obviously don't need your approval, just like you don't need theirs.
So.. that's it. Sorry WGM. Back to the runners.

It's been asked before, so it has to be asked again: Why are you here then? You CrossFit, there are other places you can go for that. IGx isn't about being anti-Crossfit, it's about being anti-bullshit. The Couch Thread just gets the most attention because CrossFit produces the most bullshit around. You go on about the loving the community and the workouts and blah blah blah. What the fuck do you think we're going to do? Everything said and done is up for critique or have you forgotten what the front door said?TheCoug wrote:I really am not threadjacking to make this about "me". Jesus fucking Christ, is this really about your uterus crying out to be filled with child?
On JayFrug:
Despite the common sense he's spouting lately, there's still just one thin layer of latex between it and general dickwad douchiness.
I'd like to ask you this, what will fuck you up more: 15 minutes of hill sprinting or 15 minutes of kettlebell swings? (just keep the work similar in nature, not like 5 hill sprints and 20000 swings, but a reasonable amount of each in 15 minutes). Because Ferrug thinks the swings will mess up your training.
In addition, his Fit To Fight book was not only garbage, but it was, probably 85%, cut and pasted from his previous ebooks. And lets not talk about how he ripped off the whole "Twitching" essay from Mark Twight to publish it for himself on EliteFTS.

Re: The couch thread
So you are representing the bullshit side of the arguement. Makes perfect sense now.
Here's the thing genius. We all understand why you love @fit. But you insist on defending it as a whole when it's rotten to the core.
And quit threatening to leave so someone can allegedly beg you to stay.
Either toughen up or fucking go away but for gawds sake quit your fucking whining.

Coug,
Look! Keep doing what you like and want because we all certainly will. Just grasp the fooishness of hurting yourself and the foolishness of hurting others either knowingly for cash or by mistake since you don't know any better.

It's about her uterus. It's very apparent we're dealing with madness.
JR has a good point:
@F has already hurt you once. You're not a spring chicken. Slap tears are a motherfucker in the older athlete.

I think the franchise has dropped a bollock with this @FE lark. It's not like their retarded met-con bullshit where you can have some overweight, middle-aged accounts-manager flailing about for 30 mins trying to finish a workout that most can do in under 5. As someone pointed out earlier, to even make it to the start-line on an ultra distance or hope to post a decent time in a marathon you have to bring a base-level of endurance fitness with you, and be wise enough to know how to proceed to improve.
Base-level fitness and wisdom to program sensibly just aint @F's style. No wonder we're seeing "Did Not Finish" and "Did Not Even Fucking Start" so often nowadays.
