Aha, finally I'm getting Crossfit. It prepares you for when the IT industry hits the rocks and geeks have to work in construction. Genius.

A friend of mine in a small Oregon community commented to me on the phone that there have been 2 or 3 well funded (in his estimation to the tune of $100K each) CF affiliates open in his town that have survived less than a year.
If this is not bullshit, either the person doing the franchising and handling the brand has no idea what they are doing or they don't care beyond cashing the initial check. There are also numerous examples of urban areas with upwards of 15 affiliates within a 15 mile radius with new gyms opening sometimes 800 yards from an existing gym.

PRO TIP: You can sell on either price or value. Once you go down the price road, you lose. What about your business frustrates you the most?
Wife:
When clients cancel over a $10 savings from the new CF down the street.
Hubby:
What frustrates me the most is probably the disloyalty and entitled nature of so many people. Finding things like broken equipment hidden in the corner, folks not paying the honor box for their tape and the constant stream of folks trying to beat us up on our price and not respecting our time. That is a constant battle. Especially now that CF is so well known now and there are probably 10 affiliates within a 3 mile radius. I find that a good number of our new clients are folks that are shopping CF gyms and trying to leverage one against the other. We don’t budge. The new guys do

Fuck the elitist cunts. They encourage the attention whoring primadonna ideal so they get no sympathy.
It's like the whole "everyone is a winner" mentality outside of grade school sports. It's creating self entitled shitheads. That's all @fit is to these soccer moms and desk jockeys. A fucking consolation prize so they'll feel special.
My hate fire was restoked after noticing how fucked up a 10# bumper was from stupid @fit fucks dropping the damn bar with 65# on the damned thing.

That's neither here nor there. Perception is reality. If you're selling, you're selling the perception of value.raptor wrote:I don't get your logic as applied to CF because there is no value in CF.WildGorillaMan wrote:PRO TIP: You can sell on either price or value. Hmm, point taken. I think at the core they're selling satisfaction of psychological needs (like reinforcing a wrong self image of toughness, wishful thinking, ... etc.) and what ppl get for their money is purely psychological (and social). Hence they get away with outrageous fees that some iron and chalk place never would. Because sober no one with a double digit IQ can possibly think this fashion of training gets him or her anywhere. The tomfoolery that is CF(HQ) often obsucres that they are quite efficient as a cult actually. Besides all the laughs they deliver this sincerely concerns me.
Speaking of things. Europeans now also get the chance to forge elite fitness, elite athletes and cure granddaddy with the same cookie cutter program. No previous experience necessary, just a thousand € to throw around:

You could be like the local non-affiliate who cried to his clients "I paid $125 a month to train at Hyperfit USA and was glad to do it. You can pay $85 a month to train here (small space, limited equipment) or leave!"

Not really. Nowdays she takes to Facebook talking about quality control, trainer vs. "great coach," and other assorted bullshit. Apparently having big tits and a willingness to suck miles of dick gives you first class passage and a sense of entitlement. I don't think there's much you could have done.lasalle wrote:This is obviously. Do it right, and you'll be flying strictly chartered jets.protobuilder wrote:The cream rises to the top!

I was just browsing the idiot boards and found this gem.
Background: this guy is posting in response to that OHS-with-baby-strapped-to-chest picture from last week.

http://www.board.crossfit.com/showpost. ... stcount=24Yeah, what does that mom think by putting her kid in on the back of a bicycle, that thing can topple over. And seriously, putting a baby in the middle of a 1.5 ton vehicle going 70 mph? Blatant disregard for human life.
Or perhaps, just perhaps, we have parents that are aware of their own strengths and weaknesses to credibly judge what is and is not dangerous. Be that riding a bike, walking with a child in the hands, driving to work, cooking dinner, swimming in the pool, doing over head squats, etc. Let's not forget the number of videos that show children walking and interacting around the workout area (highlighted sectional video comes to mind)
Actually, let me ask where's the world wide outrage over the mom giving her 1 year old a baby bottle full of Dr. Pepper.
