If it's not about couch, or HQ, or something outlandishly idiotic, I don't want to see it here anymore.
It's like HQ and couch shut off the spigot of glee.

Re: The couch thread
I hear of a Couch sighting in Atlanta. They just had a @fit endurance 5k challenge at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It's billed as a way for @fitters to challenge other athletes on their own turf. Something like $30k in total prize money was on the line, which is FUCKING HUGE for a 5000m race. Supposedly Couch was there along with BMacNCheese.WildGorillaMan wrote:Calm before the storm. Big money brought out the big guns. Winning time was 14:11, 2nd was 14:12. Bunch of dudes under 15 minutes. Just blazing fast. There was a teams division so the affiliates could hopefully pull some glory as they were guaranteed to get their asses handed to them in the individuals. @fit got curb stomped there as well. Atlanta Track Club took the team win by a humiliating margin.

Gee, you'd think we would have heard something about that. Is the meet report posted on the @FE site?Alfred_E._Neuman wrote:I hear of a Couch sighting in Atlanta. Re: The couch thread
The local sponsoring shop had a race report written up. Can't find the results anywhere with a quick use of google foo. All I could dig up is the event registration page:
http://www.regonline.com/builder/site/D ... tID=984094
And a vid of Bmac hyping the series:

Re: The couch thread
My googlefu found the results. Best time was 14:11.
https://www.raceit.com/results/default. ... 464&r=1604
Two @F competitors placed in the top 30. Have to say, that's not bad -- that's from a field of 236 competitors. Of course, 110 of the competitors were also @Fers...

Is that a wristband for a night club on Bmak? Or is it for the beer tent?
Re: The couch thread
When one says someone is "a crossfitter," what does that mean? Nothing. My guess is Katie Vance and Jack Haire are trained competitive runners who dabble with crosstraining (er, crossfit!).fatbastard wrote:My googlefu found the results. Best time was 14:11.

Where's BMack on that list?
mid-18s is respectable but hardly dominating other athletes, and wouldn't even be enough to make the cross country team of any D3 college team. Even if they did CFE it's not anywhere near evidence that CFE is superior.
FYI I'm not disrespecting the athlete, just the braggadocio.
Also, check out this super weak endurance athlete (competitive rower) deadlifting 190kg x 8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIN6UgCoh08
Look at that specialist insect and his weak frame. All that oxidative stress of high mileage rowing must really be getting to him.

the 5K Running event is more than a job around the park. The CrossFit Sports Series 5K race series is the richest 5K series in the world with $30,000 in prize money up for grabs at every race.
What naturally follows when BMAC is involved?About CrossFit Sports Series
The CrossFit Sport Series is an exciting new CrossFit event series aimed at taking CrossFitters out of their comfort zones and putting their skills to the test outside the box - literally. Trying your hand at new sports is written into our definition of fitness. The CFSS is helping CrossFitters and other communities to get out and use the capacities that we work so hard to attain. Not to mention that any time the CrossFit Community gets together, it's a guaranteed good time.

Actually it would. Katie Vance was a cross-country runner at Georgia Tech. Before that she was all-conference at North GA College and State University.kreator wrote:protobuilder wrote:When one says someone is "a crossfitter," what does that mean? Nothing. Jack Haire was a collegiate swimmer. He is currently a swimming and triathlon coach and legit 30 year endurance vet.
Maybe BMAC and Couch will bring some of that cheese to a judo tournament.

@fit Arm Wrestling was a blockbuster hit, so I don't doubt that @fit Judo is right around the corner.

Re: The couch thread
How much did it cost to enter the race? At $30,000 in prizes and 236 runners, they needed to charge $127.12 just to cover the prize money. Still have costs of venue, medical, water, medals...
Sounds like a way to lose couch's money.

Not was, is. She's 21, she's a junior. As I said, 18:xx is pretty okay for a girl.Gin Master wrote: Actually it would. Katie Vance was a cross-country runner at Georgia Tech. Before that she was all-conference at North GA College and State University.
And 18:xx is pretty okay for a 52-yr-old guy.
And there are always sponsors.

Re: The couch thread
No way Wendy would ever pay to use the name. Perhaps it could be called "5/3/1 for Cross Training Fitness".
EDIT: or, hell, perhaps they'll pay him to use the name. 5/3/1 has considerably more prestige than CrossFit(TM).
