For a true representation of The Outlaw's awesome couching, one needs to look no further than this video, where he both mocks and potentially injures his own athlete!

He is truly following in the footsteps of the dear leader.
EDIT: Commentary was by Spencer Arnold, high-level OLY lifter and couch at Outlaw.

Depending on your state's law, you can be liable for interfering with a contract OR with a business expectancy but its obviously more difficult to prove and establish damages without an existing contract. So far, it looks like Anthos HASN'T walked from Lauren, but if they do, her agreement with Anthos would likely be sufficient for a tortious interference with contract, rather than expectancy, case. It sounds like there's more than just an expectancy there: they extended an offer to buy, didn't they? That offer may be scuttled solely because of Crossfit's interference.Blaidd Drwg wrote:I thought you had to have a contract in order to tortiously interfere? Or is the fact that Lauren and Anthos are under an agreement to negotiate enough? If so, it seems hard to argue that Couch isn't painting the very picture of TI.
Regardless, the bigger issue has already been pointed out: Greg, an officer and director (?) of Crossfit, with the fiduciary duties that entails, is working hard to poison the well for his benefit.

Anonymous observer wrote:What protobuilder is missing here is that Couch is not poisoning the well himself, he's using The Russells as his catspaw.
He could certainly use better minions, they're not doing a very good job of covering their tracks.
Couch may not even be directing them step by step; he may well have pointed them in that direction, and The Russells are showing their own twisted initiative.
What those two idiots don't realize is that Couch considers them expendable. When the shit hits the fan, he'll leave The Russells twisting in the wind, deny all knowledge of their activities, condemn them for it, and dogpile on their troubles by laying down the mother of all Glassassinations on them.
We've already seen an inkling of that backup plan, with Saran's public calls for calm. Couch has stabbed far more valuable followers in the back before, if The Russells don't see it coming, they really are retarded.

Re: The couch thread
So, what makes Chris Mason qualified to discuss complex financial scenarios again?
Chris,
You are as wrong as you can be, man. Take a step back for a moment and think about about it.
Coach said, effectively, that not even one share of Crossfit is for sale, but then (you assumed) he was now willing to sell part of it to raise cash? That would ABSOLUTELY violate his promise. You simply cannot defend the actions you ASSUMED Coach was taking without also admitting that he would have had to betray his promise.
Thankfully, Russell confirmed that he is borrowing rather than selling. You, on the other hand, blindly defended the actions you incorrectly assumed he was taking. That, my friend, is indefensible and displays both a lack of confidence in Coach's integrity and a blind acceptance of anything Coach does. Bad combination, man.

Didn't a lot of other staff members (and Couch himself) post messages telling affiliates to leave if the Anthos deal goes through?

Someone may want to screencap that one.Coach wrote:Friends,
The existential threat to affiliates resides in the $20,000,000 desire to control them. Bryan Kelly made the Anthos intent painfully clear to a room full of CF Staff Tuesday May 10, 2011, from 6:30-7:00 pm in the Tony Gwynn suite at the Omni Hotel in San Diego, California. Jeff and Miki Martin, Dave Castro, Brian Mulvaney, Karianne Dickson, Dale Saran, Tony Blauer, and I were present. There, Bryan Kelly explained in clear and concise terms that we were leaving billions of dollars on the table with our current affiliate relationship. We all remember lines like, "Every time I go into GNC, you are losing money". The talk, and several of us have heard it several times and on two coasts, revolved around "money left on the table". We are well acquainted with the Anthos plan and Bryan Kelly's intent. We've been preparing for this for almost a year.
Make no mistake about it, Anthos wants an equity share of CF in order to gain control of the affiliates. I stand squarely in the way. From the start, our promise to the affiliates has been to minimize rent extraction while providing the best education, protection, and brand development possible. Bryan Kelly sees 4,000 independently owned and operated gyms as 4,000 potential points of sale. The Anthos approach is short-term, rapacious, dishonest, entirely destructive of our culture, and toxic to the affiliates.
Anthos will NOT end up with an equity share in CrossFit. They're holding a losing hand and will eventually come to terms with that fact. I'm honored to fight this fight and consider the opportunity and responsibility to lead the affiliates as the most significant facet of my life. None of it is for sale - at any price. I don't care what this costs or how long it takes, we will keep our affiliates free.

What possesses HQ to think their behavior is professional and OK? There's a lot of CF staff on the Anthos Patrol. This is a sampling within a few pages.

Re: The couch thread
CF is offering a "Crossfit Defense" course? I guess anyway to get money out of people and into CFHQ's hands.

How far do you think couch would go to stop the deal? He supposedly tried to withold medical treatment for Lauren during the birth of his kids. Granted the cops would be knee deep in his shit if anything unusual happened to Lauren. He did Glassinate DJ (who has no squat). Would you be surprised?

And he would be correct. Fuck yo couch! That kind of exercise worries Dr. Tim Hewett. Hewett is a former power lifter and director of the Sports Medicine Biodynamics Center at the University of Cincinnati. He says there is no evidence that CrossFit is good for adults, let alone for kids.
"The people who use most this type of training are people like military people, Navy Seals, and we don't even have any data that's even highly effective in highly conditioned people like that," Hewitt says.

Lulz. Everyone ELSE is, so am I:I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but are some of these details really things you should be disclosing on a public forum...?
Anyway, maybe ANTHOS shouldn't be discussing business with US? Hmmmm? Hmmmmm? These details are already publicly available both earlier in this thread and elsewhere on the internet. I am not the only one who has discussed Bryan Kelly's plans for CrossFit. Greg Glassman, Dale Saran, Russell Berger, and others have spoken openly about Bryan Kelly's plans as well. We believe that the CrossFit community deserves to know.
Furthermore, if Kelly really wanted to keep his plans private, he shouldn't have repeatedly spoken to CrossFit staff about them.

@F training + saying you're an ex-Green Beret + living in Alaska doesn't always equal Rambo: First Blood.

A Falls Church man, Atom Ziniewicz, 34, was shot and killed by Alaska state troopers last Friday, news reports said. Troopers said Ziniewicz was shot by troopers who responded to a cabin off the Parks Highway following a report of a shooting there.
Investigators said that Brenton Green, 21, of Anchorage, was shot twice by Ziniewicz in the earlier dispute.
Ziniewicz was associated with CrossFit Liberation in Lorton, where he coached and taught fitness and weight-lifting classes. The gym’s Facebook page is filled with expressions of sympathy from his friends and students.
“Atom had such an amazing ability to surface people’s faith, in both themselves and others (even the hopelessly apathetic, like me),” said one poster. “I just couldn’t believe what happened! My tears were in my eyes while we were reading all the posts…we miss him so much!!!” said another.
Troopers were searching the woods around several cabins in an effort to find Ziniewicz when he appeared about 30 yards from state troopers and “produced a handgun, resulting in the troopers using deadly force,” according to an agency press release.
Troopers have not said whether Ziniewicz pointed or fired the gun at them. Spokeswoman Megan Peters said the investigation is being conducted by the Alaska Bureau of Investigations, according to the Fairbanks News-Miner.
Troopers haven’t said why Ziniewicz confronted and shot Green, who was treated and released Friday from Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
Locals in the Healy area described Ziniewicz as a “drifter” who told several people in the community that he was a former Green Beret and was planning to live in the woods this winter and write a book.

In all fairness, he does a mean OHS with 75# though...

My reading comprehension is shite.
Sad deal. But if the police show up at your compound and you don't have the high ground and superior firepower I'd consider surrender an honorable choice.

Tragic man. Nothing to do with @fit Quack. It's a human tragedy. This type of story has no bearing on this thread. We don't know his mental state, why he did this or anything. It has nothing to do with @fit whatsoever. You can find crazy shit in all levels and types of strength sports.
