Unlike our darker brothers, I can't really find an example of a Japanese pissing me off to any great extent.

The closest competition I've had with one is when I was in HS in Indiana for a few months and it was down between myself and the Japanese exchange student as to who would play guitar and who would play the Bass in the school's Jazz band.

As I liked the Hell out of the kid and figured I'd be playing guitar in American bands more than he'd ever get the chance, I was totally cool with being on the 4 string muthafucker and letting Yoshi make it cry and sing.
(Although I did keep my mouth shut when the teacher thought he'd be diplomatic and offer me some chances to jam with his real bar band if I was nice enough to not compete for the spot, so Yoshi could get the most out of his American experience.)

The landscape during WWII was quite different than it is now. The Japs in America were all rounded up and put in internment camps. We were all programmed heavily to hate them They were the enemy torturing and killing our boys. It's hard for anybody of that generation to like gooks. I grew up in a city with a lot of recent-arrival Vietnamese and a smattering of other peoples of the Orient. Asian teenagers are, on the whole, entitled little shits thanks to demanding helicopter parents, IMO. My friend Robin Ogata's father fought in Europe during WW2 with the 442nd, the almost entirely Japanese regiment and the most decorated regiment in the history of the US Army.

Meanwhile, his wife was interned at Heart Mountain for the duration of the war.

They lost their land in Fresno.

The Ogatas remain are proudly patriotic Americans.

I almost got punched once for suggesting that a quarter-Japanese girl's vagina was 22.5 degrees off center.
