I stand against everything glasshole and @fit represent but I've yet to experience the HATRED first hand. Does it hit you all at once or does it wash over you like a calm? I've seen it effect other members in different fashion. Most of you have persevered, some of you have taken the long walk...

Look, I get IT. I even suffered IT for a time way back when, when I was on the SS Forum, drinking milk all the time and trying to squat as much as humanly possible. And though I was nowhere near as boisterous as many others, I still did my fair share of preaching "Squats, Milk and Fish Oil" and I considered anybody not in it for strength wasting their time.
In short I was a newbie imbecile who discovered something and went whole hog with it.
Everybody has done that same silly thing in one regard or another before.
HOWEVER- the extent that some @Fit'ers go to, with their fanaticism goes beyond that newbie jack-fuckery into something so far out there, it's not only ridiculous, it's also gayer than fifteen dicks in your mouth and twenty more in your butthole, and it's also unsafe in certain cases!
Do you know what would happen if a newb came to my BJJ school, and on his first day he went so balls out that he puked all over the mat and then stood there expecting high fives?
He'd get a kindly talking-to, about what is, and what is not a productive exertion of physical effort.
And if he kept it up, he'd get made fun of until he quit.
For me personally, I know lots of folks who do @Fit and not only do they do it well, they keep a level head and a great attitude about it. They don't pretend to be elite, they just like having good GPP, and they don't look for anything else except maybe fun. And I'm 100% cool with that.
It's the wingnuts and the nut-huggers. The B-Mac N Cheeses and others of his ilk. It's Glassman. They're the ones that draw my ire. I think they're cock knockers and I like making fun of them.
I also like Raquel Welch more than Allison NYC.

I get it. I do. I went to a Barnes and noble a few weekends ago and I shit you not there was a chick who bought Bmac's fucking book and had it in her hands ready to check out. After almost spitting out my coffee I wanted to ask her if she knew what DNF stood for.?
Raquel is a classy woman and I respect your choice indeed.

But I do know a little. It's mostly common-sense based. And I know folks who actually run ultras and finish them.
Know how they train?
They run really fucking far, a lot.
I know a guy who can deadlift 600 pounds, at, I believe 170 lbs BW (he's a string bean motherfucker), looked like a damn Abercrombie model at last November's Meet where I watched him do that.. Know how he got there? Dead lifting really fucking heavy, on the reg. Sets of five. Then triples. Then doubles. Repeat, for a looong time.
If I know one thing, it's that hard work in the appropriate modality trumps all. Ain't no short cuts. Anybody who sells short cuts to ignorant zealots is a dick.

I rarely use this phrase but Catra is badass. She knocks out marathons as training runs and still lifts. I don't know what she could be the poster girl for but by God, I'm buying it.Blaidd Drwg wrote:I know, right? Either way, he started talking about how he'd camped near this crazy awesome runner chick for a couple days. Said she drank water straight from the streams, even though that's not usually thought to be a good idea up there, and got up and just ran. Said she'd come back to camp hours later.
Had tattoos, crazy hair, and was insanely hot. I asked if he knew her name... and it was her. Apparently she's even hotter in person.

He hooked on with our group for about 6 or 7 miles and by the way he was talking, I'd say he'd definitely been without much human contact for quite a while.

Great story. I'd spend 40 days in the wilderness to watch her sip from a creek.
