Well, honestly...that's kind of what I was thinking about when I saw this clip. Here's this guy doing these circus tricks that has about as much audience appeal as doing a tax return. People who eat light bulbs, and hang from the ceiling by their nipple rings have more of a mass audience appeal. Bless him for doing this if it's what he loves, but where is this all heading? If I'm going to spend my life being an attention whore, I'm going to express myself through something that has more than 100 people on the planet who give a shit. There are women who blow donkeys for the camera who have a bigger fan base. And for those that think I'm being unkind, I'm not the one putting these clips of myself on youtube.Ed Zachary wrote:Makes me want to watch Strongman again.

So he really is emulating the old time strongmen.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:Hey, kudos for him he came out. Takes a lot of guts to do so.

Strongman still depresses the fuck out of me when I think about it. I saw Stan live way back in the early 00s or so at a PL meet.

I've got no hate for the bending. Billing yourself as an Olde Tyme Strongmanne strikes me as a little odd...partly for the reasons Kaz cites and partly because the other Olde Tyme Strongmanne I can think of a the moment is Logan "I haz snatches! OK, so they weren't really snatches but come on guys my conditioning is really good! OK fuck it I'm going to write about mustache wax for Breaking Muscle instead" Christopher.
What really bugs me about Whitley is what bugs me about the fitness industry more generally: the combination of minor accomplishment and MAJOR HYPE. You can bend shit? You can press a big kettlebell? That's cool! Oh, wait, now you're selling it as a Fitness System? Fuck me...

He was a massage therapist previously, I wonder if he used to offer happy endings. After seeing the picture, I'm sure he did

Shit, the fact that he landed the biker from "From Dusk Till Dawn" is more impressive than any of his esoteric handleball stunts...BFly wrote:Now the Pasta Tamer

Also, am I the only one who was made to laugh at "Lots of new stuff on the horizon... next up, taming the bent press" considering the poods-full-of-irony in him apparently considering 'new stuff' to include exploring an exercise Arthur Saxon pretty clearly explained in "The Textbook of Weight-lifting" 104 years ago?
