Guardians of the Galaxy
Best money I've spent on a movie in a long time. Great summer flick
Re: Guardians of the Galaxy
Motherfucking awesome. I loved it. The bit with his momma made me a little weepy, but there were also parts where I laughed my fucking ass off. The soundtrack is great.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy
Is it appropriate for a six and nine year old? I was really hoping to take them to this but I saw it was PG-13 so I wasn't sure.

Hmmm, guess I'll just take the14y.o. Gonna be some pissed kiddies!
Re: Guardians of the Galaxy
Loved it. So did my 5 year old (almost 6). Bad dad? Perhaps, but he didn't pick up on the language and didn't seem upset by anything. He got bored about 75% of the way through but liked it overall.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy
I didn't know anything about this except it was based on a comic book and there's a talking raccoon.
It was tough to get past the 10 minutes near the top of talking about Zandar and Thantos and destroying fictional civilizations like you know who the hell they're talking about (my wife asked if this was a sequel about 10 minutes in). After that though, highly entertaining.

Took all the kids. Hands down awesome, except that my eight year old loves the "now were all stAnding around like bunch of jackasses."

Wanted to love it, but liked it. A big part of my opinion is the %^#-ing theatre had the sound up too high. My daughter watched much of it with her fingers in her ears. Looking forward to seeing it at home without wincing every time they yell (which is a lot) or there is an explosion (ditto).

That's pretty much all theaters these days. I bring earplugs. Get off my lawn.

Rocked this bitch in full IMAX 3D with the sound turned up to 11. Loved every minute of it.

Went to a matinee today with the 10 year-old; he loved it, and this was the first flick I had seen in the theatre in quite a while I thought was worth paying the $8 for.
Also, JB's point that the soundtrack was awesome was WAY understated. They hit a homerun on that, not to mention the casting.

Meh. The trailer was weak but I hadn't heard a bad thing about it so decided to check it out.
The folks at Marvel know how to tell a story and it almost seems like they are flipping DC off at this point. "You can't get Justice League going. Well, we could do half a billion gross with a talking raccoon...and a tree." I purposely didn't read anything about it before I went though I don't think that doing so would have made me like it more. In the end, I felt it was far too predictable...oh, here's the love interest he's going to initially fight with...oh, here's where the tree sacrifices itself....and here's where it comes back to life. I rolled my eyes when I saw Batista in it but he actually turned in a very enjoyable performance. It was far from a bad film and had enjoyable parts but I don't see where all the accolades come from.

Seriously. Lighten up. Its about having fun. And not worrying about stuff meaning anything or being unpredictable. We get enough of that shit in everyday life.

It's probably a reaction to people laughing out of control at every.thing.that.happened. I said it was a good story and it had some nice lines and I liked the casting but don't get the "best movie I've ever seen" kind of talk. I suppose that every year's sports champion is crowned the "best ever" so perhaps that's society.
Perhaps I was in a pissy mood - may watch it again.

I guess I can understand that...I haven't seen a good movie in some time, the contrast between shit and good is pretty big

^That and I don't get out much. And I haven't seen an adventure/comedy in a looooooong time that actually made me chuckle. We were lucky, we were the only ones in the theater so we didn't have to listen to anyone else's reactions.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:I guess I can understand that...I haven't seen a good movie in some time, the contrast between shit and good is pretty big
