Family members can be sketchy, depending.

Himself? Bad juju.

I have a buddy who is a GP in a scandanavian country. He prescribes his mother arimidex and then uses it himself when he's on cycle.

Seems totally legit to me

Meh. I'm at the point where I want to say something to them about it, but it'll probably make me a pariah.

I have two physician neighbors, and ER guy and an OBGYN, neither will prescribe or treat family unless it's an emergency.

I imagine it makes a difference what medication it is - some things I would think throw up bigger red flags than others. Probably not a good idea overall though.

I'm a lawyer not a doctor; representing yourself may get you some "fool for a client" jokes but is basically nbd.

Representing family, though, is firmly in That's A Terrible Idea wtf Are You Thinking territory

Z-pak, meh. But that is so simple to get that it's pointless to do so. Anything else, screw that.

An OBGYN treating a family member would just be weird.

Most medical boards allow for "time limited illness" - prescribing a course of antibiotics, or anti-puke meds. But long term meds should be handled by an objective 3rd party. Controlled substances - no frickin' way.

It's probably a good thing I don't have a medical license.

No med board in the country will see that as legitimate. First time offenders will usually get a reprimand, possibly a fine, and may have to take a CME course on ethics. Unless, of course, there is evidence that the prescription for Uncle Bobby is actually being diverted over to the prescriber, in which case the stakes increase exponentially.

Unlike Medicare, there is no whistle-blower bounty on catching violators. Be guided by your conscience - knowing that in the best case scenario, addictive medications are being prescribed to someone by a doc who lacks objectivity on when to cut them back / cut them off.

This has only become apparent recently. I am not planning on ratting them out, only thinking about how to let them know they are on a shitty path

And you were worried about me being imprisoned for posting a couple of facts about PEDs?
