One of my biggest fears is the unaccountable bureaucratic state. I think a broader more powerful bureaucracy is an essential feature of Democrat party governance. Dems, especially the leftier dems, love love loves regulations. One of our Orange Lord's greatest accomplishments has been eliminating tens of thousands of regulations.
I think in almost every way (unless related to abortion and LBTQ...) Democrat governance is bad for individual liberties. I saw a quote recently that resonates with me, "Progressives love the people, but they hate individuals". A Biden presidency with a Dem house and senate scares the shit out of me as it relates to individual freedoms and the ability to have a small business unmolested by the state.
Lastly, I think the leftmost 1/2 of the Democrat party pretty much despises liberal America as we've lived it, especially flyover America, and I don't want them in any position to make policy. More inspired by Rousseau and Marx than Locke and Madison if you will.
As a man Donny is a bit of a mess, but in leading the country he's been directionally very satisfactory.

And yet it has been the Dems who have pushed for minority rights (starting some time after the Civil war), women's rights, and LGBTQRFGXYZ rights.Democrat governance is bad for individual liberties.

Re: What to make of the election?
I definitely give the Democrat party substantial credit for many important advancements in modern group rights, including what you listed plus workers rights, child labor laws, and our social safety net. They initiated many wonderful things.
Yet, something is very awry in the Democrat party right now. 1/2 of the party leadership (including corporate media, academia, the tech oligarchy, and the arts) embraces oppression towards, and the personal destruction of, individuals and groups opposed to their collectivist ends.
Frankly, I think Dems have a good chance of winning the house, senate, and presidency. That's a nightmare for me but some of you could soon be very pleased.
Re: What to make of the election?
It's more than a bit insane that you reel off really important things like "no war" as if they're afterthoughts. Is that really just some throwaway to you?

The "so what" with regard to Hunter is simple: it reveals that Joe Biden conducts pay for play operations using his family as bag men, and that Big Data, the mainstream media, all or most of both political parties, major corporations, academia, banks, etc. conspire to dictate to the American people what information is available to them.
Matt Taibbi writes about it here:

I like Trump’s approach to space, forward leaning on getting back to the moon and supporting New Space. Hope Uncle Joe will keep Bridenstine on, he’s doing good work.
Regarding Biden, holding back the Biden trove when all of this stuff was known back in 2019 was stupid. WSJ is no liberal rag. But they do have standards of evidence.
Trump has called “birther” too many times, he’s reaping what he sowed with the media blocking him out. No trust of good faith.

Describes USSR I grew up in in the 1970s. Everything for the people, and you are expected to sacrifice everything personal for the better good of the society. The Soviets pushed this line with force, the progressives trick various groups into supporting themProgressives love the people, but they hate individuals
- and then using force on everyone else to keep the line going.
I agree with Taleb here, democracy is not the rule of the majority, it's the rule of a vocal minority.

Russia wasn't a democracy then. It's not now, either. Democracy doesn't seem to get along with Russians. They like their authoritarians.

Interesting time in Philly. Video in the article shows the shooting. Seems legit to me.
From NY Post
From NY Post
Does this send suburban white wymyn into the arms of hair sniffing Joe or Donny? It's an essential and tight state. Seems like anything could tip it.At least 30 Philadelphia cops were injured by early Tuesday as violent mobs torched squad cars and charged lines of officers in a night of carnage sparked by the police shooting of a knife-wielding man.
Organized protests gathered at a park chanting “black lives matter” soon after news broke of the 4 p.m. death of 27-year-old Walter Wallace, who was shot by police after refusing to drop a knife.
Hundreds of people then swamped the streets, leading to at least 33 arrests by the early hours Tuesday on charges including rioting, assault on police officers, looting and possession of firearms, ABC News said.
The carnage was caught in a series of disturbing videos on social media, including a speeding black truck that ran through a line of officers, hitting a 56-year-old female sergeant. She remained hospitalized with a broken leg and other injuries, NBC Philadelphia said.

Re: What to make of the election?
Yesterday Donny did 3 major rallies in PA that each took about 90 minutes. I saw parts of 2 of them (on Fox). He was on fire. Then before bed he watched his new supreme court justice given the oath. He had a big big day. Donny is doing everything he can to win.
Yesterday Joe did.....what did he do? Looks like a lot of nothing again. I don't think there's been a candidate in my lifetime who spent less time campaigning than Joe. And when he's out and about, there's not much going on, and what is going on is boring.
Joe is all in on the prevent defense. Maybe that's all he can physically and mentally muster. According to polls it's been working throughout most of the game. Interested to see if it works in the last two minutes when Brady has the ball.
Very interested to see how these campaigns are dissected when it's over.
