I was at the gym tonight and on the TVs over the cardio deck, women's curling was side by side with an SEC Women's gymnastics tournament. The curlers looked like moms just wasting time while their daughters competed next door.

As a fan of the Reacher series of books, I liked this a lot better than the Cruise versions. Ritchson fills the part as fans expected. Seeing Cruise in the movie role was a WTF moment. The TV series, like the books, are just mindless entertainment . Nothing deep and somewhat ridiculous.

Maybe I had a rough day and maybe I expected much more form this but I could barely stay awake through the movie. Phoenix's performance and physical transformation were impressive but the pace was just too slow for my limited attention span.

But the Trans women (or is it trans men...I always get confused with which is what) wouldn't be competing in events where they would be at a competitive disadvantage. If that were the case, we'd already be reading stories about how "equal" it is that they're losing things too.

Saw the title and thought Rippetoe checked out.

I've watched the first couple of episodes and it's okay. I liked the book but never saw the movie. There's a lot worse things to watch and this helps kill time when I'm on rower or stationary bike.

The farther removed we get, the more disappointing the whole season seems. They had no clue how to give it a proper finish so they just decided to camouflage the effort with big battles and special effects.

I could understand the darkness for the scene where the Dothrakis got wiped out. But I had to watch it on different devices and maximize the lighting just to see what was going on in general. Blackwater Bay was fought at night also, no? No problems there. Artistic license is one thing but don't you ...

The whole season was disappointing. I was hoping that it would be satisfying enough that I wouldn't have to read that fat bastard's last books if he ever finishes them, but now it looks like I'm going to have to. As someone said on another forum, that last scene from "The Bells" with Arya ...

Most of my conversations (online) with Bob were about dogs. Ironically, his name came up in my FB memories celebrating the adoption of a shelter dog I was working with on the same day I learned of his passing.
