Re: Amazon's Kindle ebook device

Finally in a position to get an ebook reader. The question is: Kindle or B&N Nook black and white? Don't need the Nook color because I just want it to read books, not be an ipad. Unless you want to hack out, I can't see the upshot of the Nook. There are comps all over the place on the google. C...

Re: Amazon's Kindle ebook device

I've had one for a few months. I got the Wifi / 3G one. Pros: The e-ink is really amazing. Just incredible. Oh, how the eyes do not strain compared to a computer, smartphone, iPad, etc. Built in American Oxford Dictionary. Best Single volume dictionary for my money. The webkit is great. Undersold du...

Re: Let Me In

Can't imagine the original could have been improved on at all. As bout a perfect treatment in the genre as possible. I knew that Hollywood was re-doing it, but didn't know it had already been released.

Thanks for the review, if only as a reminder to watch the original again.

It's really excellent on every level. Thanks. Read the first two yesterday. Not at all what I expected, which is great. Gonna buy the next six today. Early Clutch is some good shit.

Saw Motorhead in the early 90's and even had a drink with Lemmy.

Amazing they are still alive.

Re: Ribs at Buffalo Wild Wings

Youngstown -> DC. Which variety of shit-hole do you like better? Well, Y'town sort of appeals to the born-and-bred white trash in me... I hadn't been to that region in quite some time, and Y'town was ROUGH. Like, 'parts of Detroit' rough. They had, however, kept the campus and the church there all ...

Re: In Fifty Years We'll All Be Chicks

By Adam Carolla I thoroughly enjoyed it. Carolla's one funny motherfucker and his wit really comes through in this book. It's basically one big rant as he jumps from topic to topic on why he thinks people are assholes and pussies. There were moments when it seemed like he was really reaching for a ...

Re: Ribs at Buffalo Wild Wings

Holy Fuck do you have to deal with LARP bikers types at a Quaker Steak. This is a point well taken. BUT, the key is to avoid eating at the big, fluffy, dressed-up locations that have that 90-foot 'bike patio.' A couple years back we were in Youngstown during that blizzard for the Pavlik/Rubio fight...

Re: Ribs at Buffalo Wild Wings

I envy those in the Rust Belt, Ohio region who have not just Fricker's but Quaker Steak and Lube to indulge in... But Holy Fuck do you have to deal with LARP bikers types at a Quaker Steak. I can't count the amount the of mg of valium I have to take to just walk past their bicycles without wanting ...

Great program. Series 1,2 and 4 were masterpieces. Series 3 less so in comparison, though that just says how good the others were. However, the last series, series 5, was so bad that if I knew someone was watching them again for the 1st time I'd tell them to actually not watch it. It sort've soured...

Re: The Wire

When campaigning for Prez, Obama was asked his favorite TV character, without missing a beat: Omar from the Wire.

The Wire is fantastic as a series. Probably one of the best if not the best TV series ever as a whole.

The new $139 Wifi kindle is out. Updates of users of older models, further impressions after having it for a while?

Might grab one for a friend.

Thanks.

I have heard bad things about the color screen vs. the old e-ink screen, BUT: for you hackery types, the Nook has now been rooted and hacked so that it runs Android.
