Re: The couch thread
Already got a shout-out to the couch thread in the comments: http://www.slate.com/id/2281700/ Hello to our new friends from Slate I guess - if any read this far. Article was meh... not nearly as much fun stuff as the NYT article a while back; no remarks on Couch's physique or anything. But these day...

Re: The couch thread
Only mention of anything above 465 that isn't a fail is a "495, 515 (old PR), 525 (new PR)". Also a 585 fail. All the same guy. Who puts 10 lbs on their 515lb PR, then tries a 60lbs jump? Nothing big in metric either, so it's not like they are hiding from my regular expression scanning pow...

Re: The couch thread
This is fucking stupid. You can't just make up random wikipedia entries according to your own rules and then whine about 'Wikipedia Nazis' deleting pages that don't fit the wikipedia format. The place for a critique of crossfit is on the crossfit entry if anywhere, but I expect that to be subject to...

Re: The couch thread
Looks enough like a younger (!) couch to pass for me. Seriously, how many gym-NASTs can't do a front and back lever?
Couch's gymnastics career is shouded in mystery. Somewhere he has a buncha trophies with 'participant' on them IMO, as if he'd ever won anything, we'd have heard about it.

blah blah The hatred of @fit has not hit blah blah outpouring from the silent majority of people who love CF blah blah blah Anyhow, I train with one of the recently banned members of the @fit community and for that, I am thankful. So officially, by association, I am no longer a @fitter. :-({|= wtf ...

Bumpers and oly lifting are preffered by @f because it is a way to look badass with little work. Bumpers are deceiving and make you look stronger than you are. i was using bumpers at a @f gym last week and couldn't put collars on with 295lbs! Oly is so rare in gyms that a 135 power clean or even a ...

I like this Ryan Jones guy's style: http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=35664&page=19 ie. the one saying that the guy that got Rhabdo is a "total puss". From his log (@192 bw): Back Squat 3x5x45 5x65 3x95 2x115 3x5x145 Bench Press 3x5x45 3x65 2x95 3x5x120 Deadlift 5x45 5x175...

POD, there's a whole thread for you to publicly agonize about whether you're catholic or queer, why not do it there and keep the couch-hate pure? I for one don't want to see an asterisk next this thead when it reaches 15K posts (* "3928 of these posts are actually about whether POD is gay or ju...

John looks anything but. Six foot five with limbs to match, he wasn’t built to move weight, yet a childhood of ignoring anthropometry had left him crazy strong . John had seen an end result that was more important than the obstacles in the way, that something beautiful could be built atop something...

Awwww snap. Glasshole discusses how strong he got as a gymnast. "I was a good gymnast, bordering on great, but not great, but I was a very very strong gymnast." ... Shit is archived! This fucking dipshit never did anything! How can you be great but you never competed in anything and never...

Fuck 'small sample'... I know regular expressions, bitchos. Here's the results of scanning for 3 digit numbers beginning with 4, 5, 6, and 7. I cleaned up some of the 4xx results so that you all don't have to read comments like: 'Too tired from sucking 423 cocks last night (PR), deadlifted 5x1x115 (...

1. They emphasize “functional” movement rather than gym machines, etc. I'm not sure what "functional" movement is, but I'd rather see people doing multijoint lifts with barbells and things rather than sitting in a machine and grinding out reps while chewing gum. 2. They use varying physic...

I like the photo with Shari's daddy. He's got a haunted look, like he's hearing Chris Rock yell "Your only job is - keep your daughter off the pole" in continuous play somewhere inside his head.
Damn.

I did this for various other people back in the day with fun results; back when Pavel was cheerfully implying to anyone who would listen that he'd seen heavy SpecOps action in Afghanistan Link?
