Re: The couch thread
Well, I found Barry Cooper. Now I need to wash my eyes out and get a drink. http://www.moderatesunited.blogspot.com/ http://www.goodnessmovement.com/ Barry is a good example of someone who didn't realize philosophers sound confusing because the topics are confusing, not because they're trying to be...

Re: The couch thread
I only made it a few seconds into the Glassman video - the logic of "I know I'm right because I've looked at the science and I'm right" is about to make my head explode. This is completely, staggeringly fucking egregious. I wish I could say it baffles me that anybody could listen to this ...

Re: The couch thread
Just noticed on the CF board that David Wood has apparently earned the "Departed" moniker usually used for the folks who had their accounts deleted. A real shame. He stopped moderating there some time ago, but if he's broken fully from the pack that's their loss. He was always one of the m...

So what drives up BP the most? Lifting something really heavy, i.e., single rep max lift? Max intervals with full lactic acid bath? Visited her web page. What a terrible situation. RIP girl. IMO, heavy lifting with Valsalva. Cardio-type exercise will increase cardiac output and hence, to an extent,...

Wow. A death in the gym. Maybe SAR or JudoB can elaborate better, but AFAIK if you've got a predisposition to an AA and have been growing one for a while, you can blow from any/none activity. Hefting groceries, sitting on the toilet, whatever. As much as I think @F is for asshats, I don't think you...

Of course, there is room for someone to say that our Games are actually not the best test of fitness, but then there would be an onus on them to provide a better one. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but it hasn't happened yet. God fucking damn it. I may have shit for brains but I provided exactl...

"Torn aorta" is likely an aortic dissection or dissecting AAA. While this is bad news and a COMPLETE aortic dissection means you're dead in approximately the time it takes to say "elite fuhztnhhhh," incomplete dissections can still be caught and repaired if you're lucky.

Re: The couch thread
I like being able to walk into a competition and know what my three attempts will be - this program takes the guess work out as my first attempt is what I can do for five reps, the second is what I can do for three and knowing the single makes it easy. Small digression here, but for the PL people h...

That too obviously but Spells specified a 48" vertical. The vert is vastly, disproportionately more difficult than the rest of that crap. The rest pretty much anyone could train to (all at once would take some work, but still). The average dude with a 22" vertical is never, ever jumping f...
