Re: Right now I'm reading
It's a classic but where Bradbury stands out as a fantasist is short stories, a genre that is more difficult to write than most people realize.

Re: What to make of the election?
I am astounded by how many people continue to think the russki conspiracy and dossier are all true and reliable. They literally don't want to know about reality. At this point it's painfully obvious why the Dems were desperate not to reveal "sources and methods".

Not bad, needs more suspense in the third act. Maybe a forest fire could advance on the cabin as the interview wraps up?

Re: Post Office Shennanigans
We used to have a mail sorting post office facility near my workplace, but it was eliminated some years ago to centralize labor and cut costs. Given the shrinking volume of 1st class mail, it's not exactly shocking that it could be in the works again.

Re: What to make of the election?
Come on Nafod. To pretend that the bulk of TV and newspaper news isn't lefty is just gaslighting. Fox has such a big audience simply because there is so little competition for their TV audience. Sure, there's plenty of radio and online righty guys... they had to go there because that's where there w...

Re: What to make of the election?
If you read the verbatim transcript of any recent Biden softball laden interview it's cringworthy. Hard to see how he'll put a sentence together under pressure. Even hardcore grassroots Dems are talking about the VP finishing the term.

More possible good news. Tcell immunity could be measured without massive cost. We'd know if the 80% number is correct and who doesn't need a vaccine. "sandeep chakraborty @sanchak74 This is how one measures Tcells response - different from Bcells antibodies (which varies) - by measuring (a co...

Re: Big Tish: Break Up the NRA
I'm pro safety... but there is such a thing as too much. Like the guy who freaked because an unloaded rifle in a hard case being walked back to a car was "pointed at him". I put it in the concern trolling category. It's a type of virtue signaling, like the people who examine everything to ...

The fetishized SF cosplay is just plain weird. When I looked at the cover of the mag you posted I thought Cosmo for gun guys. Create an ideal that fills an emotional void, make it look cool, and sell to it. Tried and true formula. And guys love gear, and guns, like golf, boats, and fishing, offers ...

Re: Big Tish: Break Up the NRA
The fetishized SF cosplay is just plain weird. I'm not into the Tactical Timmy stuff that way, but it's just one flavor. Most you aren't going to see because it's not on the grocery store magazine rack. Hunting (so many types of animals and they often need totally different firearms to be taken) ta...

Re: Big Tish: Break Up the NRA
Nafod is ignoring that any product with built in hobbies lends itself to creating a lifestyle built around it. And there are hobbies both solo and competitive for every type of firearm. How would you build a lifestyle around not owning something? The only activity you have is lobbying for bans.

Re: Big Tish: Break Up the NRA
Upper tier of NRA sycophants and Lapierre have absolutely used the fear of confiscation to keep money rolling in for themselves, but they were willingly aided by the Dems who decided to make confiscation a party platform.

Re: Wu Flu
I know all that. I knew all that. I never denied any of it or even mischaracterized any of it. So your response is non-responsive because again my point was viral load appears to not play a role in the symptomology of covid. And that can't be squared with initial dose being causative in covid. Once...

Re: Big Tish: Break Up the NRA
GOA or SAF will carry on if the NRA dies. There will be plenty of donations shifted immediately. The NRA's money was always much more in small individual donations than the anti money is.

Benny. Initial dose size, once again, absolutely affects the chance of you getting the disease or killing the viruses without getting successfully infected. Severity of symptoms if you do get infected is a different, mulifactor thing in which initial dose is only one variable. This is not controvers...

Re: Wu Flu
Viral load in a patient is not the same thing as exposure dose. Viral number in an exposure dose absolutely matters to the infection probabilities. This is extremely well characterized over many pathogens.
