Re: Hey Cahill, gotta question for ya.
I have an old college buddy who was a religion major, specializing in "new religious movements" so after many conversations with him I notice when there's a divergence between what a group considers important and how society describes them.

Re: Hey Cahill, gotta question for ya.
I was struck recently when I read a bit more about Jonestown how so much of the commentary I have seen over the years concentrates on the Christian cult aspects and minimizes to invisibility the devotion to communism. Seems to me the reality was more like hard-core communist dictatorship with a coa...

This month's new food experiment was homemade sharwarma complete with pitas from scratch. Total success, except for the kids won't eat it. They are in the bland phase. More for me! This is the best new recipe since schnitzel. The fresh pitas are awesome, a huge step up from even the ones bought at e...

Press down on the valve ball with a screwdriver. There's vids on youtube. Get a screwdriver and pliers and you can do it. You don't need to pay someone for this.

Anyone remember the Bush years when the Euros were rejoicing at the rise of China and so happy that the Chinese would one day eclipse the US as the world's superpower?

Number of positive tests only has meaning in relation to total number of tests, as well as if the test population is in the same region as the older tests and of a similar sample selection of the population. Some scary county spikes reported ealier have been because everybody in one prison or everyb...

No, not at all. I'm saying relatively careful reopening appears to be actually working. Things remained the same after a partial reopening. The protests are a giant experiment. 4 weeks after they started we will be in a position to reasses our standards for the young and healthy. There is no doubt t...

In addition I didn't say the cases will spike due to protests... I said I suppose there could still be an increase. The wording was chosen carefully. We didn't see a spike in deaths from those evil anti-lockdown armed terrorists and we might not see one from our stunningly brave peacefull urban demo...

All all 4 states lying? Deaths are very very hard to hide because the state reports what location the death was in and local hospitals will tell reporters how many deaths they've had. Where I am the running and current numbers are on the hospital's web site, you don't even need to ask for it. FYI, I...

Mrs. says she used the King Arthur "Beautiful Burger Buns" recipe except she used the bread machine to do the mixing, kneading, and initial rise. If you use them same day you will need to toast them to dry them a bit to stand up to burger juices, after a day you can just slice them in two,...

Sometimes the insanity is just mind-blowing.
So my wife is on a number of internet groups for moms, women in tech, etc. Sometimes there's problem advice, sometimes commiseration. Complaining about spouses is really common, just venting to a sympathetic audience. My wife enjoys these because invariably it makes her feel good about her pick. Ton...

Courtesy of the wife working from home we have had this week fresh white bread, wheat bread, banana bread, both chocolate chip and molasses cookies, and of course the buns. They were so good we just devoured the first one hot with butter. My condolences on the low carbing.

12oz grilled burger rare and well seasoned on a homemade sesame bun, some grilled zucchini on the side. Homemade molasses cookie for dessert. I've seen Europeans sneer about Americans and hamburgers but they can F off.

Legally speaking, the Police have only the same right to deadly force to preserve life and limb that any citizen does. In practice, some animals are more equal than others. It isn't right, but there it is. The Democratic politicians who control these cities (in some cases for generations) make the l...
