Re: Is Hotlanta about to burn?

FYI, I think qualified immunity needs to go. Police and politicians can do whatever they want and the taxpayers pay, never them. It is much too strong a protection. They'd tread more carefully if they had more personal risk.

Re: Is Hotlanta about to burn?

I dont agree with those actions either, Spells. And I have absolutely seen people saying we should take no action against arsonists and looters because "It's just property". You claim they are against the freedom of assembly now, but Cotton doesn't say the military should stop protests in ...

Spells, when has burning down cities and looting ever been considered a 1st Amendment right? Seriously. When?

I am getting less worried as time goes on. We have them mandated at work. In a hospital. Right now I'm on a lake beach, sans mask. Nearest family is 50 ft away.

Re: Corona Virus and the Resurgence of National Autonomy

Once you are making good money 24K is affordable. Women with degrees in STEM aren't at that point right out of college and they have a timer running down on kid-having. My wife and I delayed kids to get our careers further along and that brings different problems.

Re: Corona Virus and the Resurgence of National Autonomy

Not quite fair Turd. You must be aware that the govt is only paying 100% in the most maximally fucked up situations. IMO, 100% coverage of childcare would be the biggest back to work Initiative you could think of. I know people with valuable stem degrees who quit work when they had kids because dayc...

None of the reopened states have had a big second wave. Looks like a win for Federalism and the laboratory of democracy.

Re: Right now I'm reading

King has a pretty common problem among very good but not great writers... good build up and middle but weak endings. It happens a lot with very ambitious or experimental writers who don't know in advance how they intend to wrap things up. Grant Morrison is frequently guilty of this- I enjoy the craz...

Re: Is Hotlanta about to burn?

Spells is often wrong but rarely evil. I have been actually upset only at 2 things... G$ being a total fraud and one guy, thankfully long gone who appeared to be an actual irrational anti-semite to an annoying degree. I've met a half-dozen posters, they were all great in person. Oh, and Spells... I'...

Re: Old TV series that stand up (pre-2000)

Blackadder is fantastic, I only wish the sound levels were mixed better on the dialogue. Many BBC shows of that era have the background music as loud as or louder than the actors, making it a bit of work to listen to.

Re: Old TV series that stand up (pre-2000)

I enjoyed Stargate SG1. Like a lot of ensemble shows season 1 is not at all the best and had some real clunkers but by season 2 the cast and showrunners have found their footing. 10 years plus 2 sequel series, 2 tv movies and a web series, even. Also uses fan faves from farscape last few seasons.

Re: Is Hotlanta about to burn?

Benny, that arrest law applies to a crime you see in progress. Not one days before by someone you THINK is a particular person you see later, not even if your ID is correct. This has been discussed in many places. A trial is appropriate here.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation took over the case. Local Police are along for the ride. Why would locals riot? The two yahoos are in jail without bond. If Johnson obstructed Justice then she'll face the music. Booker can make his claims in Court. The System needed some help. Loved to know what...

Re: Pandemic projects?

Nice work man. Is that for a 1911? Why did you want a grip safety? Is it a requirement in your state? They're standard on 1911s, part of the original design requirement. I replaced the GI style one to get a slightly larger bump where my palm presses it in. The beavertail under the trigger is really...

Nothing wrong with using a Mauser to hunt, that design is the grandfather of darn near every great hunting bolt-action since the 1890's.
