The New, 'Old Schlitz' Recipe is Back....

Post by The Venerable Bogatir X »

Schlitz has brought back its original formula that they did away with in the 1960s, and it is a damned fine brew, lie-men.

I proclaim the 'new, old' Schlitz, IGx Approved. Go for the gusto, indeed.

I don't give a fuck what y'all say I like the champagne of beers as well for a cheap brew. I'll give that new old Shlitz a taste. My dad used to drink that, IIRC.

Micknasty,

High Life is the 'go to' beer in Chateau High Velocity! It also happens to be the 'go to' beer for much of my peer group, too.

Like PBR, Schlitz is same, but different--big bang for the buck in terms of taste/quality.

An outstanding brew, but nearly double the cost. We're talking canned tuna and you're talking sushi.

Funny, I use think think Harp was pretty good beer. I haven't changed my mind (it's a fair brew) but over the last five years I've branched out in my beer drinking; almost all due to me getting back into home brewing. Then I started brewing & drinking IPAs, Bitters, Porters, and Stouts on a consistent basis. Now all of the micro or premium beers I used to drink 10-15 years ago are way to sweet.

BTW- I have a 5 gallon batch of India Pale Ale sitting a fermenter.

Mmm IPA. Give Dorado Double IPA from Ballast Point a try.

That homemade beer thing sounds good. It is hit and miss or do you get consistently good results?
Like every endevor, when you first start, you mess up a batch here and there when using out of the book recipes. After you have a couple of batches under your belt, you rarely fuck things up. However when you start to spread your wings and start experimenting, you're going to fuck up a lot of batches to get that new recipe

Put together my new grill yesterday and went to the store and picked up a couple of T-Bones and a sixer of the new old Schlitz. You are dead on the money Lie-Nap. For $2.89 per 6-pack I was very surprised by the taste. Pretty damn good beer. Hell, I think a 12-pack is around 5 bucks and some change.

Thanks for the heads up on this Nappy.

Well with the wife in nursing school and 3 kids I can't afford to buy a $9.00 6 pack of the good stuff all the time. As pointed out earlier, bang for buck.

Mickey, I apologize for the snobbery.
My wife & I are in our peak-earning years, and my kid is educated, employed, and has flown the coop. So we can afford some of the extras.
But when my daughter was young, Old Milwaukee was my beer of choice.

No worries johno. I'm gonna get Willie to hook me up with some of the finer stuff anyway. \:D/

Just try the fucking beer on my say so, knucklefucks. Bogatirs are never wrong, this should be blatantly obviously. While you're at it, replenish your Vodka reserves, only pick-up a bottle of Tito's Vodka instead of your normal swill with the money you save on not buying a six of Harp. NTTAWWHarp.

Beer snobs are funnier than wine and cheese snobs.

Generally, if its wet, its good enough, excluding Miller products.

Liking fancy beer is fine, but only a half a fag would talk down to Stag, Schlitz, Natural Light, PBR, Olympia, Hamms, Old Milwaukee, etc. Ever heard of yard/lawn beer?

High Ligh is good, Miller Lite and MGD both suck nut sack. Natural Light is better than you.

That MGD Lite 64 calorie shit isn't bad for, well, 64 calories. I am drinking me a Schlitz long neck right now that outstanding, FWIW.

Schlitz is damn good. Gluek's is another great beer for the price. Hell, it is a great beer period. Pig's Eye, Hamm's, Stroh's, Michelob Light, Old Milwaukee, and PBR qualify too.

I worked at the Hamm's/Strohs plant in St. Paul when I was 20. I heve been dinking a lot of Hamm's lately. I forgot what a really good beer it is. I don't know if it's the original formula but it sure is good. When I was a kid growing up on the East Side of St. Paul, MN thats all anyone drank was Hamm's.

I toured the Schell's Brewery in New Ulm yesterday. Interesting tour and got a little free beer.

Lowe's Foods. Harris Teeter had it up here but only in the 12-packs. Lowes had it 6s and 12s. Let me know what you think.
